Madrid were crowned champions after beating Espanyol 4-0, having gone into the game needing just a point to wrap up the title.

Rodrygo’s early double put the champagne on ice for them by the half-time break, before goals from Marco Asensio and Benzema after the interval wrapped things up.

Marcelo then lifted the trophy to begin joyous scenes at the Bernabeu, with the players and their families enjoying themselves on the pitch.

And star man Benzema then took to Twitter to comment on his fourth Spanish title.

‘Another trophy for the best club in the world,’ he wrote. Congrats to the team for the hard work this season and to the fans for the support…We still have other goals! Hala Madrid!’

Madrid still have hopes of securing another major trophy this season with the club gearing up for the second leg of their Champions League semi-final on Wednesday.

Madrid lost 4-3 to Manchester City in a thrilling first leg at the Etihad and inow they will need something special at the Bernabeu to reach the final.
