And Belgian football expert Sacha Tavolieri tweeted: ‘Youri Tielemans would have told those around him his preference for a departure to Spain.

‘Real Madrid, interested, could position themselves concretely in the coming weeks… To be continued.’

Tielemans is one of a number of players Leicester will be willing to let go this summer for the right price.

It is thought Ayoze Perez, Kelechi Iheanacho and Caglar Soyuncu are also believed to be expendable.

The Foxes have seen the promise of the last few seasons slightly fall off a cliff this season with injuries and players in bad form contributing to a difficult and disappointing campaign.

Tielemans, who last season scored the winner in the FA Cup final against Chelsea, wants to play in the Champions League and Leicester will not stand in his way should a club meet the asking price.
