Olivia Attwood showed off a painful looking collection of bruises to Instagram on Sunday as she told fans about her ‘sports injuries’.

The former Love Islander took to her Story to share snaps and videos of the injuries, showing black and blue bruises across both of her legs and her hips.

The injuries come as 31-year-old Olivia has been filming for ITV sports show The Games, which is set to air this month and sees a host of celebrities go head-to-head in physical challenges.

Posting a collection of videos to her 1.9millon followers, Olivia detailed her bruises, assuring fans that the marks weren’t a result of alcohol.

She then went on to point out the marks, showing a collection of bruises across both shins, feet and knees – alongside a large purple mark on her hip.

The bruises are likely a result of the intense physical training that Olivia has been doing for new show The Games.

In April, the star was spotted working up a sweat as she ran around a track in training for the show, alongside co-star Christine McGuinness.

She is set to star in the show alongside a group of six female and six male contestants, including stars such as Max George, Chelcee Grimes, Wes Nelson and Adam Thomas.

The sporting injures come after Olivia recently opened up about her athletic past, admitting she was ‘over trained’ as a teenage athlete – which ultimately shattered her goal of becoming an Olympic runner.

In a chat with MailOnline, Olivia revealed details of a heart problem she developed due to this – and said that The Games has brought back memories of the time.

She explained: ‘My history with running is a bit sad. I used to run at national and county level – it’s weird because some of the coaches here know some of my old coaches.’

‘I got to a high standard and I was one of those unfortunate cases with young athletes who got over trained.

Continuing in the candid chat, Olivia said that she was ’emaciated’  and ‘ended up with a swollen heart valve’ due to running six days a week.

Explaining that her Olympic dreams were shattered, the reality star said: ‘You have to live six months of sedentary lifestyle to recover and then you can go back in but I was heartbroken, at that age people PB (personal best) every single weekend there was no way I was ever getting back to that level after six months.’

But after a 15 year break, the star admitted that years of ‘smoking and drinking’ have taken their toll on her – as she was plunged back into athletics for the ITV show.

‘It has been a lot harder than I thought it would be but also – it sounds really millennial – but healing. Fifteen years of partying and smoking has taken its toll,’ she revealed.
