Liverpool ‘unlikely to agree contract extensions with Mo Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino’

Liverpool ‘are UNLIKELY to agree new contracts with all three of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino’… as the trio all enter the final year of their current deals at Anfield

  • Liverpool are unlikely to keep Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino
  • The trio are all out of contract in the summer of 2023 and yet to agree new deals
  • The Reds will have to break their existing wage structure to keep Salah and Mane

Liverpool are reportedly ‘unlikely’ to be able to agree new deals with all three of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino.

Reds boss Jurgen Klopp is keen to keep hold of Senegal international forward Mane  who is entering the final year of his contract, but no significant discussions have taken place about extending his stay at Liverpool.

Much like Mane, Salah and Firmino are also approaching the final 12 months of their current contracts, and it appears that it will be extremely hard to keep hold of all three of their star players.

Liverpool know they will have to break their existing wage structure in order to keep the Egyptian, according to a Goal report.

The report also suggests Mane’s salary demands would not be far behind, given his achievements and performances during his six years with the club, but any offer to both him and Firmino may well depend on the outcome of negotiations with Salah.

Mane’s performances for Liverpool this season have been strong, particularly since the turn of the year.

He has scored 21 goals in all competitions, and recently has thrived in a central striking role, with new signing Luis Diaz excelling on the left.

Diaz’s January arrival was seen as a sign that the Reds were planning for life after Mane, and Liverpool have also secured the capture of exciting Fulham teenager Fabio Carvalho, a player who can play across the forward line.

Mane is said to be attracted to the idea of playing in LaLiga should he be allowed to leave Liverpool in summer, according to Mundo Deportivo.

The Spanish publication claim that the Africa Cup of Nations winner believes he would have a greater shot at the Ballon d’Or at Barcelona than in Jurgen Klopp’s side.

The Blaugrana are said to be aware of his interest and view the Senegalese as a top player.

The Spanish publication report that Mane’s Liverpool team-mate Mohamed Salah was also on the Nou Camp chiefs’ radar but a move is considered complicated.

The Egyptian’s salary demands are thought to be too high for Barcelona, while Mane’s are lower than his Reds team-mate, making him a ‘real option’.

Salah has also performed to the highest level once again this season and is in contention for yet another Premier League golden boot with 22 league goals.

Injury-hit Firmino has banked 11 strikes and four assists in 31 games across all tournaments, but seems not as high on the agenda for the Reds.

Klopp, who signed his own contract extension recently, views both Mane and Salah as key players for Liverpool’s future.

‘You have to ask the boys,’ Klopp replied when asked about their futures earlier this month.

‘If it’s (me signing a new deal) is a positive sign for the boys, great, but I don’t think it will be decisive.

‘That’s more of a question for the boys, to be honest. But it’s all fine, I really think they are both great. They have more things to think about than the management, but it’s an important thing.

‘I have a great relationship with both boys.’
