Brisbane Chemist Warehouse shopper claims they found ‘camera’ on shelf

Shopper stunned after spotting what appears to be a ‘camera’ on the shelf of a Chemist Warehouse store

  • Shopper believed they spotted a camera inside a Chemist Warehouse store
  • A customer posted the photo to social media hoping to reveal the truth
  • Has sparked debate on Reddit whether it is a camera or motion detector

A customer was left scratching their head after spotting what they believed was a small camera placed on the shelf inside a Chemist Warehouse.

The shopper had been strolling through the aisles in the Brisbane store this week when they noticed a tiny black circle.

‘Has anyone else noticed the micro-cameras in Chemist Warehouse below the LCD signs throughout the store?’ they asked on Reddit. ‘Or am I just being paranoid?’

The photo has divided Reddit users, with many believing it was a camera, while others thought it was a motion detector used for the LCD screens so the power wasn’t being used when nobody was around.

‘My fiancé works for Chemist Warehouse, can confirm they are just motion sensors for the LCD screens. Not actual cameras,’ they said.

Others guessed the same.

‘Motion sensor to activate the LED sign? I’m just trying to think of any other possible answers,’ another person suggested.

Another guessed the store may have set up cameras to prevent theft.

‘Of course it’s a camera! Their aisles are very narrow and high, hard to police theft without having an employee able to see every space at every time,’ one noted.

‘It’s power saving, some supermarkets have started doing this for the lights in the fridges and freezers too so they aren’t on when no one is around,’ another added.

Daily Mail Australia has contacted Chemist Warehouse for comment.
