A marriage therapist has shared the one common complaint she hears frequently from female clients.

In a now-viral TikTok video, Corrin Voeller said wives often ‘whine’ about needing to tell their husbands to do mundane household chores.

Corrin, from the US, said the division of household duties is falls into two categories of responsibility – the ‘active’ and the ‘passive’.

‘Active responsibility would be you looking around the house for things you could do and taking responsibility for the things that need to happen within the house,’ she said.

‘Passive responsibility would be being available to help – but waiting for somebody to tell you what needs to be done.’

Corrin implied wives often need to nag their partners to complete everyday tasks around the home.

‘This is one of the top things I hear from women as a complaint, saying that their husbands are waiting for them to tell them what needs to be done,’ she said.

‘And they’re really looking for a partner in life who is actively responsible for the house and for the children – and not waiting for their wife to tell them what to do.’

The short video has since exceeded more than 1.5million views and received a raft of comments.

‘I’m so tired of being asked “what can I do to help” when all I can cry is “I DON’T KNOW” because there are 100 things that actually need doing NOW,’ one woman wrote.

Another added: ‘I’ve told my husband this before: “If you do things at work how you do them at home, you would’ve been fired already”, right?’

‘Omg it’s so exhausting!! And glad I’m not alone dealing with this with their spouses,’ a third added.

Men also admitted to being ‘passive’ with some responsibilities, but with reasoning.

‘As a husband myself I am both. And the reason for this is because sometimes I have done all I believe is done and then I ask is there anything I could be missing that you would like help with?’ one wrote.

‘I take all responsibility,’ another said.
