Everton: Richarlison hits out at Jamie Carragher on Twitter

‘Wash your mouth before you talk about me and Everton’: Toffees’ hero Richarlison launches 1.37am Twitter blast at Jamie Carragher, who he has ‘no respect’ for, after Liverpool legend’s comments on his play-acting

Everton striker Richarlison has blasted Jamie Carragher on social media – telling the Liverpool legend that he has no respect for him.

The Brazilian played a key role in helping the Toffees avoid Premier League relegation with a stunning comeback win against Crystal Palace on Thursday night, and hours later he took to Twitter to slam boyhood Evertonian Carragher.

Trailing 2-0 at half-time, Everton scored three goals after the break to ensure that it is mathematically impossible for them to drop down to the Championship next season.

Richarlison scored the equaliser on 75 minutes to send Goodison Park into raptures before the atmosphere increased ten-fold when Dominic Calvert-Lewin completed the comeback 10 minutes later.

And after the elation of Everton’s survival, Richarlison went online to throw shade at Carragher in the early hours of Friday morning.

‘Wash your mouth before you talk about me and Everton and I don’t respect you’, he quipped to Carragher at 1.37am, accompanying the message with an emoji.

The 25-year-old’s damning tweet appears to be in relation to two recent comments by Carragher.

Speaking ahead of the match, Carragher, who grew up supporting Liverpool’s bitter rivals as a kid, tweeted about the Brazilian’s perceived gamesmanship, writing: ‘Talking about Richarlison going down is nothing to do with bias.

‘Every Everton game I do he goes down three or four times like he’s got a big injury then just gets up! It’s not about getting a penalty or a foul but pretending he’s hurt when he’s not.’

The 44-year-old swiftly deleted the tweet in question but not before Richarlison posted a gif of himself celebrating a goal with his fingers to his lips in reply to the pundit.

Carragher also riled the former Watford star – and all Everton fans – with his commentary for Sky Sports during the club’s defeat by Liverpool last month.

The Reds’ win, courtesy of second-half goals from Andrew Robertson and Divock Origi, was shrouded in controversy with Everton aggrieved at not winning a penalty for Joel Matip’s collision with Anthony Gordon and Sadio Mane not being sent off for appearing to make contact with Mason Holgate’s eye.

Everton were unhappy that Liverpool refused to kick the ball out when Richarlison went down with an injury, leading to Abdoulaye Doucoure tripping Fabinho and picking up a booking as his frustration got the better of him.

However, Carragher felt Richarlison went down far too easily despite appearing to roll his right ankle nastily.

‘Honestly, get up. Get up, carry on,’ Carragher said of Richarlison during his co-commentary on Sky Sports.

‘If Doucoure gets a yellow card because his team-mate goes down. Stupid from Doucoure trying to stop the game but Richarlison… there’s nothing wrong with him.’
