‘I don’t need this!’: WizzAir pilot rants at passengers over the tannoy during ‘SEVEN-hour delay’

‘I don’t need this!’: Moment WizzAir pilot loses his cool and rants at passengers over the tannoy during ‘SEVEN-hour delay’ on Gatwick runway

  • A passenger recorded a pilot ranting over the tannoy during a seven-hour delay
  • The WizzAir flight was headed to Cyprus but was stuck at Gatwick Airport
  • The agitated pilot said ‘I don’t need this!’ and asked who wanted to get off

A passenger caught the moment a frustrated WizzAir pilot ranted over the tannoy, while they were stationary on the runway of Gatwick Airport during a reported seven-hour-delay.

‘I don’t need this!’ He told the exhausted holidaymakers, who were stuck in their seats waiting to set off to their destination of Larnaca, Cyprus.

Passenger Hannah Mace filmed the moment in disbelief and uploaded the video to TikTok.

The WizzAir pilot was heard saying: ‘Show of hands please, who wants to get off?

‘We won’t be going tonight if you get off.

‘You know, I don’t need this, the crew doesn’t need this.

‘We are doing what we can to get you out of here.

‘It’s out of my control. Completely out of my control.

‘We’re doing everything we can.

‘If you want to get off, I’ll let you off, no problem.’

On TikTok viewers sympathised with the pilot as he lost his temper.

One person said: ‘Oh bless him though. You can hear the pain in his voice.

‘He wanted to get going as much as everyone else, must be hard to have everyone moaning at you.’

Another wrote: ‘To be fair, I’m on his side. He’s probably extremely stressed and the crew are exhausted.’

On Tuesday morning travellers complained of up to four hour delays, with one Twitter user describing their experience as ‘horrible’ and ‘grim’.

A spokesman for Gatwick Airport tweeted in response: ‘Hi, we’re really sorry for any delay. We are operating a moving queue system and staff are working hard to process passengers as quickly as possible through Security Search.’

Earlier this month on a different WizzAir flight a British passenger was arrested after starting a huge brawl.

The flight to Crete descended into chaos shortly after it landed, with punches thrown at other travellers and even the pilot, holidaymakers said.

The mass fight saw women and men injured in the melee.

The passenger and his friend were badly behaved throughout the flight and his anger boiled over when he was told police would escort him to the airport, according to witnesses.

Tourists said the pair were smoking and vaping throughout the journey, threatening fellow travellers, and were drunk before they even got on the plane.

The pilot then tried to calm down the situation but himself was then thumped, witnesses said.

Police eventually dragged the blood-stained man away from the plane with his trousers around his ankles.
