According to The Sun, incoming United manager Ten Hag is aware of the 23-year-old’s contract situation in west London.

The Dutchman is claimed to be keeping a close eye on Mount’s predicament and the Red Devils have reportedly already made their interest known.

Ten Hag was said to first be made aware of Mount when he impressed on loan at Vitesse Arnheim in Holland and the manager has continued to monitor the Englishman’s progress since.

He is thought to be a big fan and the report claims that Ten Hag would pounce at the chance to bring him to Old Trafford.

Despite being an integral part of Thomas Tuchel’s side, Mount is one of Chelsea’s lowest paid players – on an £88,000-a-week deal.

With the Blues setting a defensive rebuild as a priority this summer in the wake of departures from Andreas Christensen and Antonio Rudiger, a new deal for Mount has slipped down the order of business.

Despite two years being left on his current contract, Chelsea run a greater risk of other clubs circling as his deal draws closer to its final 12 months.

Liverpool and Manchester City are said to have already made ‘discreet enquiries’ if he should ever consider a move away from Stamford Bridge, while Barcelona are also believed to be monitoring the Chelsea academy product.

However, despite the speculation surrounding his future, Mount appears committed to Chelsea as he insisted he was excited for next season with the Blues.

Mount, who enjoyed a weekend at the Monaco Grand Prix this week, told Sky Sports: ‘It’s an exciting time now with the owners being confirmed, going forward it’s going to be exciting.

‘The era under Roman [Abramovich] has been brilliant, now we look forward. It’s exciting stuff, can’t wait to get back to it.’
