Love Island 2022: Gemma admits she still ‘wants to speak’ to Liam despite recoupling with Davide 

Love Island viewers saw the first re-coupling of the series as Italian hunk Davide Sanclimenti paired up with Gemma Owen, leaving Liam Llewellyn single and vulnerable.

But on Wednesday, Gemma is set to reveal that the shock twist ‘hasn’t changed’ how she feels about Liam and she would still ‘like to chat’ with the Masters student. 

The daughter of footballer Michael Owen, appears to be keeping her options open as she discusses her feelings with Liam, and later enjoys a date with Davide. 

Speaking in the Beach Hut, Gemma says: ‘Me and Davide are now a couple which I’m quite excited about. 

‘I’m really happy and I’m really looking forward to getting to know him a bit more and seeing where it goes.’

Gemma joined Liam for a discussion at the firepit, with the newly single contestant admitting: ‘Tomorrow is a new day – I’ve got work to do!’

Gemma added: ‘Me being in a couple with him hasn’t changed how I feel about you. I still want to chat to you. It’s still early days. But I can imagine it’s not a nice situation to be in.’

Liam agrees: ‘You’re still at the top of my tree! I’ve got a good feeling about you. You are girlfriend material, the way you are and the way you carry yourself.’

Meanwhile, in the Beach Hut, Davide says: ‘I feel really happy with how things have been tonight. I’m now in a couple with Gemma and I’m really happy that she actually felt the same as me. I feel like there is something good between us.’

Later on, the Islanders are relaxing in the garden when Gemma receives a text which reads: ‘Gemma and Davide, it’s time for your first date. Please get ready to leave the Villa. #SimplyTheZest #FirstDateVibes.’

Speaking ahead of her date with Davide, Gemma says: ‘Hopefully we can have another good chat and I can find out a bit more about him and have that good energy.’

The pair head out of the Villa and arrive at a picturesque location for their date where it is revealed that they will be making their own lemonade.

Talk soon turns to marriage as Davide asks: ‘Do you want to get married? Have you ever thought about it?’

Gemma responds: ‘Yeah definitely. I’d like to get married and I want to have kids.’

Davide asks: ‘How many?’ with Gemma responding, ‘Like four!’

Speaking about the re-coupling, Davide later says: ‘I was sure about my decision. What about you?’

Gemma admits: ‘With Liam I’ve told him that I’ll still have chats with him and get to know him a bit more. I also told him I have more of an initial attraction to you than I do for him. I do think you’re a nice genuine guy.’

Tuesday night’s Love Island ended with plenty of drama as Davide held the power to chose one of the girls to pair up with, despite them already being in couples with the other lads. 

After spending the day getting to know the girls, the evening saw decision time for business owner Davide as he had to chose which girl to steal from one of the other boys.

Speaking in front of the firepit, he explained that his decision had not been an easy one as he had just 24 hours to get to know the other girls.

He then added: ‘It’s not just attraction, yes she’s a stunning girl. We really had a good time and I would like to know her more. The girl I would like to couple up with is… Gemma.’

As Gemma made her way over to her new partner, Liam looked visibly gutted as he could only sit by and watch.

But his misery continued as he then received a text which confirmed his single status and revealed that anyone not in a couple by the end of the week is at risk of being dumped from the villa.
