According to The Athletic, Broja has been the main driving force behind the deal as he is looking to gain more first-team exposure next season.

Broja has been limited to one first-team appearance at Chelsea following his arrival in 2009. However, he has impressed on loan at Vitesse and at St Mary’s.

The 20-year-old striker scored six goals in 32 games for Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side during the 2021-2022 campaign.

As a result, he was selected to travel with the Chelsea first-team for their pre-season tour of the United States.

However, he has reportedly left his Chelsea team-mates to return to the UK to finalise the terms of his deal with West Ham.

It is believed West Ham have offered Chelsea £25million up front with a further £5million in add-ons for Broja’s services.

West Ham also want a left-back and have submitted a bid for Sassuolo striker Gianluca Scamacca but that doesn’t affect Broja going to the London Stadium.

Scamacca thrived in Serie A last term, scoring 16 goals in Italy’s top-flight as Sassuolo finished in mid-table.

However, West Ham will have to fend off interest from Paris Saint-Germain as they Ligue 1 side are said to be monitoring his situation.
