The two-time Oscar winner attended a special screening of her new film Tár in Los Angeles on Thursday and simply oozed sophistication. 

The 53-year-old was chic in a black suit which was perfectly tailored to her slender figure.

The jacket portion featured fashionably oversized lapels in a sleek satin fabric as well as padded shoulders for extra drama. 

Most notable were the jacket’s short sleeves, which revealed the actress’ long-sleeved black top underneath. 

She skipped the accessories but for a chunky ring and let the outfit do the talking, adding a pair of towering heels to complete the look.

Cate credited the film’s writer and director Todd Field for drawing the best out of his cast with often unscripted, spur-of-the-moment ideas.

‘I felt like we were standing on the edge of a cliff every day saying, “This may not work, let’s give this a try”, which was really exciting to make,’ she told Reuters.

Variety predicted Cate’s performance ‘will likely be one of the most toasted performances of Oscar season’.

The publication added that it will, ‘all but guarantee Blanchett will land her eighth Oscar nomination for acting.’ 

The Don’t Look Up star and her husband, Andrew Upton, live in England and have four children together; Dashiell, 20, Roman, 18, Ignatius, 14 and Edith, seven.
