Tedesco was sacked by Leipzig last month after less than a year in charge. He previously coached Spartak Moscow, Schalke and Erzgebirge Aue.

Maresca is currently the assistant to Pep Guardiola at Manchester City, where he is highly thought of and it is unlikely that the Premier League champions will let him leave at this stage of the season.

Having previously been the assistant boss at Ascoli and Sevilla, Maresca took up a similar position at West Ham in 2018.
