Rashford jokes with Rio Ferdinand after Man United legend says ‘Lloris got something against Marcus’

‘Serious bro!’: Rashford jokes with Rio Ferdinand after Man United legend says ‘Lloris got something against Marcus’ following Tottenham goalkeeper’s impressive display against forward at Old Trafford

  • Marcus Rashford was twice denied a sixth goal of the season by Hugo Lloris
  • The French World Cup winning goalkeeper made eight saves on Wednesday
  • Manchester United did however find a way past him twice in the second period

Marcus Rashford has taken to Twitter to vent his irritation at Hugo Lloris’ brilliant performance in Manchester United’s 2-0 win over Tottenham, after jokingly suggesting the Frenchman has an agenda with him.

The England forward was clearly in good spirits after the Spurs captain barred the way to the goal for Rashford on two occasions on Wednesday evening.

In total Lloris made eight saves in the game, and was called upon regularly throughout the game.

England and United legend Rio Ferdinand initially took to the social media platform to write: ‘Lloris got something against Marcus.’

To which the 24-year-old striker responded with: ‘Serious bro,’ followed by a crying emoji.

Lloris denied Rashford a good opportunity in both halves of the game, as the United No 10 was twice played in behind the Spurs defence in a dangerous position.

Fred picked him out in a promising position before the interval, and his touch took him past the Spurs defence, but the Frenchman saved well to his right to eep out Rashford’s powerful effort across goal.

And in the second half the England man – who was otherwise impressive going forward for the Red Devils – cut inside his man before looking to curl the ball into the far corner.

However, whilst Ferdinand believes Lloris produced fine stops to keep out Rashford, Thierry Henry insisted that the striker could have ‘done better’ to find the back of the net.

‘He could have done better,’ the former Arsenal and France icon told Amazon Prime.

‘This is what I say, when this ball is coming to you, have a look at the goalkeeper to freeze him.

‘Strikers don’t do that often, the ball is coming to you, you know it, you have look at the goalkeeper to freeze him and he never looked.

‘What you do normally, he just fires low and across. Power is not always the answer.’
