Police officer who was found hiding in a wardrobe in home being raided by her colleagues is sacked after being found guilty of gross misconduct

A police constable who was found guilty of gross misconduct was dismissed yesterday after she was found hiding in a wardrobe. 

Police Constable Elaine Taylor faced allegations relating to discreditable conduct and honesty and integrity, as she hid in a wardrobe at an address that was subject to a search warrant on January 8 in 2020.

A wanted person, who PC Taylor had full knowledge of, was at the property at the time, but she but chose to ignore this.

Detective Sergeant Tony Dixon, of GMP’s Professional Standards Branch, which conducted the investigation said: ‘We hold all of our police officers and staff to the highest standard, and unfortunately, PC Taylor fell below those standards.

‘We remain committed to addressing any misconduct of any kind, at any rank, and will take swift and robust action to ensure we maintain the confidence of the public we serve.’
