At the entrance to Compton Avenue, there is a gate with 24 hour security, to help protect the private road.

The property is being sold with full planning permission for a detached six-bedroom house extending to more than 18,000 square feet, with a separate pavilion or alternative accommodation.

The plans also have a basement with underground car parking and leisure facilities, including a cinema, gym and swimming pool.

There are no images of the interior of the existing building as it is reportedly in such a bad state.

The property is being sold by Bargets estate agents, which describes the existing six-bedroom property as in ‘extremely poor condition’ and ‘currently uninhabitable’.

Compton Avenue is close to Kenwood and Hampstead Heath and there are several schools nearby, including Annemount School and Highgate primary school.

The property also has good access to public transport, with both Highgate and East Finchley London Underground Stations less than a mile away.

Daniel Copley, of Zoopla, said: ‘This secluded property could be the perfect project for a buyer with deep enough pockets.

‘Although the site is in need of significant refurbishment – it does come with full planning permission for a new six-bedroom home and is a stone’s throw away from scenic Hampstead Heath with its many shops, bars and restaurants.’
