Kerri-Anne Kennerley says MAFS star Domenica Calarco had a ‘meltdown’ on I’m A Celebrity

Kerri-Anne Kennerley has again discussed her shock exit from I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! during Thursday night’s explosive episode.

The TV icon, 69, sensationally left the jungle after Married At First Sight’s Domenica Calarco branded her ‘the most self-centred b**** she’s ever met’ during a fiery spat.

Speaking on The Project on Friday night, Kerri-Anne says Dom was feeling ‘down on herself’ which led to the clash.

‘Dom had two tries at trying to finish the testicles. She couldn’t manage it, and that – you know, that’s nothing to be ashamed of’ she said.

‘She is a vegetarian and it’s pretty yucky. She was more disappointed in herself, I believe, and I could tell mentally she had just got really, really down on herself.

‘She was disappointed that she couldn’t finish it… and so she was imploding way before she got to me’ Kerri-Anne explained.

The TV star also insisted that she would have finished the challenge if Dom had done the same.

‘If Dom had finished that or started and finished that, I would have done it’ Kerri-Anne said.

‘I could have done it. The boys, they got right into it. If Dom had done it, I would have. I would never have let those three down – without question.’

Kerri went on to say that no one besides Dom had an issue with her special privileges on the show, including wearing makeup.

‘I don’t think anybody else cared except for Dom, who had had a bit of a meltdown a couple of days ago’ she said.

It’s the second time Kerri-Anne has addressed the controversy since her sensational exit from the reality show.

Speaking to The Daily Telegraph’s Sydney Confidential, Kerri-Anne was upset over quitting within the first week of the show, but she ‘loved’ living in the camp with some of the ‘fabulous’ famous faces.

‘I am very disappointed that I couldn’t stay,’ she said, adding that the challenges were strenuous.

Kerri-Anne admitted that she’d never camped before and ‘never wanted to’ until she entered the jungle, but noted that she’d learned a lot about camping life.

She also addressed Dom’s ‘hurtful’ comments before her exit.

‘I am a tough old bird but that doesn’t mean what people say aren’t hurtful,’ she added.

‘I also just wanted the camp to know I am not a horrible person. But you can’t have regrets as it’s not how life works.’

The TV veteran’s time on the series came to an end after only four days in the South African jungle.

Drama unfolded when Kerri-Anne and Domenica took part in an eating challenge alongside former Australian Idol judge Ian ‘Dicko’ Dickson and radio host Woody Whitelaw, where they had to eat a variety of animal testicles in order to win dinner for the rest of the group.

In the challenge, a tennis racquet was spun in the middle of a table, and whoever it landed on had to chow down on one of the jungle delights.

At the end of the challenge, the team were offered 13 stars if they all ate the ball of a kudu, which is a type of large antelope.

But Kerri-Anne wasn’t having any of it, even after the celebrities told her it ‘tastes just like meatballs’ and ‘wasn’t that bad’.

This caused Dom to see red after she took a bite and Kerri-Anne refused.

‘Miss big contract lady, “Can’t tell me what to do.” I don’t want your (make-up), I don’t want your Revlon 1989 lipstick, doll,’ she raged.

‘It’s not fair – it’s not fair to everyone in there who actually tries. Why are you here, bro? Legit, actually, why are you here?!’

She then accused the Studio 10 star of having no respect or decency for anyone but herself.

‘Literally no respect or decency for anyone else but yourself. I’ve never met anyone so self-centred in my life,’ Dom continued.

When she returned to camp, Kerri-Anne said the ‘abuse’ from Dom was ‘overwhelming’.

‘To be called the most self-centred b***h she’s ever met. And the contract queen time and time again. I would have finished [the challenge], if she would have finished. It was never going to happen,’ she said in tears.

Upset at having to do three trials in a row, Kerri-Anne then told her campmates she was leaving.

‘I’ve made a choice, it was a hard choice. Because I’d love to stay. But it’s never going to work. I thought it was very unfair. I got three trials in a row,’ she said.

‘So, not against my better judgement, because it is my better judgement that I go.’

Kerri-Anne then uttered the famous word, ‘So, I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!’

However, when Dicko, Dom and Woody returned to the camp, they told a different version of events.

‘It was pretty clear that Kerri-Anne was not going to make an attempt,’ Dom explained.

‘I don’t apologise for the way I felt during the situation. I think I could have spoken better,’ she continued.

‘But the lack of team effort and support at that time, it was completely selfish. It felt like, what are you even doing here?

‘I don’t know why she didn’t say the words before we got to the task. It was a waste to me that she was never going to attempt to eat the ball.’

Taking to Twitter, viewers also called Kerri-Anne a ‘bad sport’ and ‘terrible asset’, with many questioning why she was on the show in the first place.
