Braided for Bayern! Erling Haaland channels his inner Viking with some bold new pigtails in training as Manchester City’s 44-goal Norwegian striker aims to finally deliver Champions League glory for Pep Guardiola

  • Man City face Bayern Munich in the Champions League quarter-final tonight
  • Erling Haaland is hoping to add to the 44 goals he has scored so far this season
  • The Norwegian striker showed off a striking new look during a training session

Erling Haaland has revealed a striking new look ahead of Manchester City’s Champions League quarter-final clash with Bayern Munich.

The Norwegian striker will be looking to add to his 44 goals this season when they face Thomas Tuchel’s side at the Etihad Stadium, in a competition which they are hoping to win for the first time this campaign.

Away from his goals and excellent on-field displays, his long hair has become a notable feature of the Man City star, and he often wears it in a bun during games.

He has also let his hair down in magazines including GQ, where he was on the cover of their second annual global sports issue back in January.

Haaland has now channeled his inner Viking, with braided pigtails during Man City’s training session ahead of their clash with Bayern.

Haaland appeared to be in good sprits during the training session as he was seen laughing with Man City teammate Bernardo Silva.

The Man City star has every reason to be a good mood after he returned with a bang at the weekend.

Haaland had been out of action with a groin injury that kept him out of their 4-1 victory over Liverpool, as well as Norway’s two fixtures over the international break.

Haaland netted twice in their 4-1 win over Southampton, taking his Premier League goal tally to 30 in what has been a fantastic debut season for the player.

A hat-trick against Leicester this weekend could see him break the record for a 38-game season, which is currently held by Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah on 32.

Alan Shearer and Andy Cole jointly hold the ultimate record for most goals in a Premier League season on 34 – at a time when there were 44 games a season.

As previously reported, Shearer told the Athletic that he felt Haaland was going to ‘obliterate’ his and Cole’s record this season.

He also backed the Man City star to net 60 goals in all competitions by the end of the campaign.

Bayern Munich know Haaland well from his time at their rivals Borussia Dortmund and will be wary of the threat he possesses when they meet in their first-leg at the Etihad Stadium tonight.

Haaland has netted 10 Champions League goals this term – seven off the record for most in a season which was set by Cristiano Ronaldo at Real Madrid in 2014 (17).
