Candice Bergen attends NY Public Library luncheon, as VIP events are hosted throughout NYC

The New York Public Library held its 2023 lunch on April 27th under the iconic glass dome of the Celeste Bartos Forum in the Stephen A. Schwarzman Building.

The elegant luncheon raises critical funds for the library’s acclaimed collections that are used by scholars, writers, artists and students every day.

Award-winning actress Candice Bergen was one of many New York notables in attendance.

The beautiful venue was made complete with tables dressed in pink linens featuring fresh bouquets of colorful peonies, tulips and other sweet-scented flowers currently in bloom.

Business casual attire could be seen throughout the magnificent space.

‘Murphy Brown’ star Candice Bergen looked chic in a white blouse and black slacks, topped by a cream blazer and matching scarf draped around her neck. 

Philanthropist Elyse Newhouse, hotelier Sarah Wetenhall and World Champion bridge player Gillian Miniter, were also in attendance.

Lunch was followed by a captivating panel discussion focussed on the genre of Coming of Age – capturing the journey of becoming who we are in an ever-changing world, with best-selling author Tayari Jones, renowned poet Ocean Vuong, and acclaimed memoirist Tara Westover, moderated by The New Yorker editor David Remnick

After dessert New York Public Library President & CEO Tony Marx took to the stage. 

Tony spoke about the nation’s largest public library system, stating ‘New Yorkers come to the library in larger numbers than any other institute.’

This year’s lunch was co-chaired by Abigail Baratta, Mahnaz Ispahani Bartos, Louise Grunwald, Zibby Owens, Daisy Prince, David Remnick, Deborah Goodrich Royce and Nanar Yoseloff. 

Iconic British luxury brand Asprey, a partner for over 10 years, generously sponsored the event, which has once again been presented with Literary Partner The New Yorker.

The annual event raised an incredible amount to support the Library’s mission to inspire lifelong learning, advance knowledge, and strengthen communities.

Art in The Big Apple 

The lNew York Public Library luncheon wasn’t the only event to attract a VIP crowd in the city that never sleeps.

On Tuesday, April 25 2023, Nick Mele celebrated the opening of his limited-edition fine art photography exhibition titled, PLEASE SIGN IN ALL GUESTS, at Bergdorf Goodman.

The exhibition, which will be on display through August 2023 and is Mele’s first in  New York, showcases his work throughout the past 20 years.

Following his successful showcases at The Colony Hotel in Palm Beach and Park House in Dallas, New York notables came out in full force to support the artist in the Big Apple.

Guests included the iconic Martha Stewart, Bergdorf Goodman’s Linda Fargo, Cydney Preston and Andrew Mandel, Gillian Miniter, Cara Cara founders Julia Brown and Sasha Martin, Eleanora Kennedy, and many more.

The New York City display is an expansion of the previous exhibitions, with the addition of more personal work, including pieces of his family that share glimpses into his world and the evolution of his career.

In addition to photography, the exhibition is accompanied by housewares curated by Mele, a Palm Beach resident, who spends time in Newport, and started his career in New York.

On Tuesday, April 25, 2023, whiskey brand Royal Salute celebrated the release of the King Charles III Coronation Edition with an invite-only tasting event.

In attendance were top-tier luxury lifestyle media and select Influencers VIPs, including Royal Salute’s U.S Brand Ambassador, Nathan Wood.
