David and Victoria Beckham ‘LOSE planning row with neighbours after a dispute over privacy concerns at their £31.5m west London mansion’

  • The Beckhams have been locked in a disagreement with neighbours over privacy concerns at their £31.5m west London home
  • In April, the couple won a planning battle against the resident after claiming that a proposed balcony may have overlooked their garden
  • But the neighbour sought advice from the council and submitted amended plans which have now been approved, according to reports

David and Victoria Beckham have lost their planning row with neighbours after a dispute over privacy concerns at their £31.5m west London mansion.

Ex-sportsman David, 45, and fashion designer Victoria, 46, had initially successfully blocked plans for a new internal layout, slate roof with roof light and a completely new outdoor space set out by their neighbour.

But the resident has since sought pre-planning advice from the council and submitted amended plans, which have now been approved, The Sun reports.

Disappointment: David and Victoria Beckham are thought to have lost their planning row with neighbours following a dispute over privacy concerns at their £31.5m London mansion

The power couple had won a planning battle in April after claiming the proposed balcony may have overlooked their garden.

They also claimed that installing a light in the roof of his property would ‘spoil’ the setting of their upscale townhouse in the Notting Hill area.

But their neighbour has since reviewed their designs and have now been given the green light by the local council.

A report by a council officer seen by the publication dismissed any fears of nearby properties being overlooked.

It stated: ‘There are no concerns with the impact of the proposal on the living conditions of neighbouring occupiers in terms of light, sense of enclosure, noise or privacy.’

It also gave  permission for builders to work Monday to Friday, 8am to 6pm.

MailOnline contacted a representative for David and Victoria who declined to comment.

The reports came after the paper also claimed those who live close to David and Victoria’s Cotswold home believe the reported plans for ‘gatehouses and security huts’ will ‘ruin the ambience’ of the quaint Oxfordshire bolthole.

David has submitted plans to increase security with a gatehouse manned by 24-hour guards and an underground getaway tunnel.

His proposed security measures come as several footballers ramp up security at their homes, including Spurs midfielder Dele Alli, 24, who was held at knifepoint with his girlfriend Ruby Mae, 21, at his house in Hertfordshire last month.

They have applied to West Oxfordshire District Council for permission to build a gatehouse to ‘improve security for occupants’ at the mansion and surrounding grounds.

In the application it states two existing employees will work on the site full-time.

The Daily Star reports that these two members of staff are security guards who will man the security hut 24 hours a day.

Also included in the ex-England captain’s plans is an underground getaway tunnel which provides access from the main building to a proposed wine cellar under the existing garage.

The application is currently under review by councillors and a decision will be given in the coming weeks.

David and Victoria have also requested permission to add another three bays to their garage, increasing the building from four bays to seven.

Dele Alli handed one match ban for appearing to mock Asian man over coronavirus

Dele Alli is BANNED for Tottenham’s first match back in the Premier League against Manchester United over the ‘racist’ social media video he posted mocking an Asian man over spreading coronavirus

  • Dele Alli appeared to mock an Asian man over coronavirus in February
  • Alli posted a video showing a man of Asian descent with the caption: ‘Corona whatttttt, please listen with volume’
  • Alli deleted the video within minutes of posting it and apologised twice
  • He told the FA hearing that he had been ‘betrayed’ by a friend on Snapchat
  • He will miss Spurs’ first game back against Manchester United a week on Friday
  • Here’s how to help people impacted by Covid-19

Dele Alli has been hit with a one-game ban by the Football Association for his controversial social media post earlier this year in which he appeared to mock an Asian man over the coronavirus.

The Tottenham star has been at the centre of an FA investigation and will now miss his team’s Project Restart opener against Manchester United a week on Friday after disciplinary chiefs slapped the midfielder with a one-match suspension and £50,000 fine.

He will also be required to undertake an FA educational course.

In the next part of the Snapchat story, the midfielder wears a mask while appearing to feign concern. He then shows a bottle of handwash, accompanied by the caption: ‘This virus gunna have to be quicker than that to catch me.’

Alli deleted the video within minutes of posting it and apologised twice, nevertheless the FA have deemed the footage to have racial connotations.

Alli said: ‘In response to the FA decision, I would like to apologise again for any offence caused by my actions on 6th February.

‘It was an extremely poorly judged joke about a virus that has now affected us more than we could ever have imagined.

‘I’m grateful that the FA has confirmed that my actions were not racist because I despise racism of any kind.

‘We all need to be mindful of the words and actions we use and how they can be perceived by others.’

The FA commission wrote: ‘The creation and distribution of the offending material was more the product of spontaneous ill-judged stupidity rather than any sense of malicious intent.’

In November, Manchester City star Bernardo Silva was banned for one game and fined £50,000 for a social media post in which he compared team-mate Benjamin Mendy to the character on a packet of Conguitos – a chocolate brand available in Spain and Portugal.

An FA commission accepted Silva did not intend to be ‘racist’ against Mendy, but still felt compelled to dish out the suspension given the connotations.

Sportsmail revealed in February that Alli would tell disciplinary chiefs the video was not racist but a misjudged joke.

Unlike Silva’s post regarding Mendy which was made on Twitter – a public forum – Alli’s video was meant for private consumption; the England star posting it on his private Snapchat account, meaning only people he has verified have access to his posts.

However, the video in question was somehow leaked to the Daily Star on Sunday.

In his hearing, Alli said that he had been ‘betrayed’ by a friend who sold the video on.

The Beckhams have ‘upset the neighbours’ with plans to add ‘security huts’ to their Cotswolds home

The Beckhams’ plans to beef up the security around their Cotswolds barn conversion has reportedly left the neighbours irate.

According to The Sun, those who live close to the famous family believe the reported plans for ‘gatehouses and security huts’ will ‘ruin the ambience’ of the quaint Oxfordshire bolthole.

According to The Sun, an outraged resident of the village named John Walsby said: ‘Farms and agricultural buildings do not have gatehouses and security huts! It’s totally out of keeping with the area!’

This comes after Alli was held at knifepoint and punched after robbers broke into his house earlier this month.

As Sportsmail exclusively revealed, the Tottenham and England midfielder was thumped in the face during the ordeal but did not suffer serious injury.

Two males wearing balaclavas broke into the back of Alli’s north London property just after midnight on May 13 before threatening the Spurs star — who has been isolating with his brother Harry Hickford, their two partners and a long-term friend.

Alli’s team-mates Jan Vertonghan had his home robbed in March while he was playing for Spurs in Germany.

At the beginning of the year, Crystal Palace’s Mamadou Sakho lost more than £500,000 of items in a burglary.

Leicester City star Hamza Choudhury became the latest Premier League footballer to invest in guard dogs earlier this month to heighten security.

Several footballers have now beefed up their security by using firm Chaperone K9 after Alli was robbed at knifepoint.

Aston Villa’s Jack Grealish spent £25,000 on a Belgian Malinois and Choudhury has splashed out £50,000 on the same breed and a German Shepherd, according to The Sun.

K9 have already supplied dogs to Raheem Sterling and Marcus Rashford as well as former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand.

The highly-trained dogs come from police and military backgrounds and cost between £10,000 and £25,000 each.

Back in September, Victoria spoke about why she never smiles in public.

I want to be honest. In the past, I’ve probably hidden behind my armour, the not smiling publicly, for instance. There’s less of that now, she told Glamour magazine.

‘There’s something really liberating about embracing who I am at 45-year-old and owning it, feeling confident, feeling content’.
