At the time, she tweeted her thanks to the police service for ‘looking after’ her.

She said: ‘Big thank you to the Met police tonight and ambulance service for looking after me after I was glassed by a drunken Irish man for f*** all.’

Speaking out: She then appeared on Victoria Derbyshire to admit she had felt ‘hurt and embarrassed’ for being ‘made to feel ashamed for having a normal job’

She was pictured outside the store on a break last October, having a coffee and a cigarette, leading to much attention from soap fans.

She then appeared on Victoria Derbyshire, followed by an interview with Grazia magazine, to admit she had felt ‘hurt and embarrassed’ for being ‘made to feel ashamed for having a normal job’.

She added that she was proud to speak out on behalf of hard-working single mums because providing for her family is paramount to her.

Katie said: ‘It’s the nature of being an actor; gigs come and go, and after my contract with EastEnders ended in February, I found a new job as soon as I could. Doing work like this is also what keeps me grounded.’

Katie revealed she ‘crumbled’ and was left in tears after a friend alerted her to the front page news.

But upon reflection and thanks to the support of fellow thespians from Tamzin Outwaite to Nathalie Emmanuel, she is ‘proud’ to have changed the conversation.

‘Their support gave me the strength to speak out and stand up for hard-working people – especially single mums’, she said, and insisted her priority in life is caring for her two children, saying: ‘As long as I’m providing for them, nothing else matters. Everything I do is for them.’

She said she is proud to take on any work she can to ‘keep busy and learn new things’.

Katie pointed that ‘all actors go through it over the years, I’ve had so many jobs in between and not just being a security guard.’

‘At 17 when I got [first movie role] Fish Tank I was doing doughnuts with my uncle at the time at festivals and things like that so I’d go on there and do the food carts,’ she said. ‘I’ve been a waitress, I’ve worked at a credit card company, I’ve done admin, I’ve done all types of things.’

Katie added that when she first saw the photos of herself she felt ashamed but is now proud that she’s doing all she can to provide for her family.

‘One of my sisters she calls me a dabbler because I seem to do a bit of everything and I like to be busy and I like to learn new things, it doesn’t matter what it is,’ she told Victoria Derbyshire.

She added: ‘The people I work with there are amazing, they get up every single day, they work hard for their money and it doesn’t matter what job you’re doing, I don’t feel like anyone should be made to feel like how I felt when I woke up do you know what I mean, because I think as long as you’re working that’s all that matters.’

Katie said being a security guard isn’t easy and that she actually works alongside her sister at the bargain store, explaining: ‘A lot goes into being a security guard, they put themselves at risk. I took that job on and joined my sister because she’s a security guard there.’

Ross Kemp looks unrecognisable following wasp attack to his face and thanks NHS for treating injury

‘Our fantastic NHS!’ Ross Kemp looks unrecognisable after WASP attack leaves him with a swollen face as he thanks doctors for treating his injury

He’s visited some of the most dangerous territories across the globe.

But Ross Kemp has experienced a new perilous interaction in the UK as he suffered a brutal wasp attack which left him with extreme facial swelling on Monday.

The former EastEnders actor, 56, looked almost unrecognisable as he posted a clip of his face online and thanked the NHS for coming to the rescue.

Wasp attack: Ross Kemp showed his horrendous facial swelling to his social media followers as a result of a wasp attack on Monday

He entered a loft space on Monday but was unaware that wasps were in the vicinity, so they became aggressive from the disturbance.

The insects reacted by stinging Ross several times, causing his face to swell tremendously and leaving him with a protruding lip.

He said in an honest video posted to Twitter: ‘I look like Mick Jagger don’t I, well that’s what happens when you get stung by three or four wasps in the nasal and lip area.

Taken by surprise: The investigative journalist, 56, entered a loft space, unaware that he had disturbed a group of wasps and was subsequently stung at least three times around his mouth

‘Be careful of those critters, don’t go upsetting them by opening up a loft space without asking their permission first.’

The TV hard-man had to go to hospital to try and reduce the inflammation, and he thanked the NHS for doing a ‘fantastic’ job and helping remedy his injury.

Ross made a dad joke in reference to Mick Jagger’s famed song ‘I can’t get no satisfaction’ as he served up a comical pout similar to his rock-star lookalike.

Hospital visit: Ross showcased his engorged lip and joked that he looked like Mick Jagger before visiting hospital where he thanked the NHS for treating him

He said: ‘Now being seen by our fantastic NHS. A very cool doctor’s just given me hydrocortisone, hopefully that’s gonna bring it down a bit.’

‘I just can’t get no satisfaction, ow, it hurts a bit.’

In April this year, the TV tough guy sparked outrage after he began filming an NHS documentary in an intensive care unit towards the start of the coronavirus outbreak.

Ross was kitted out with PPE masks to stop the spread of the virus, but he still made the decision to push ahead with the documentary despite the apparent health risks.

He posted a clip of himself wearing a mask while at the Milton Keynes Hospital during filming and the show subsequently aired in late April on ITV.

Ross told his followers: ‘I’ve just been fitted for PPE and we’re about to go into an intensive care unit at Milton Keynes Hospital to witness the incredible efforts of medics treating Covid 19 patients. Please note we won’t be depleting the hospital’s PPE stock#COVID19 #coronavirus #nhs.’

He added: ‘I want to make it clear to everybody out there, even though we’re using NHS masks, we’re actually replacing those with the ones we have brought.

‘They are exactly the same standard and the Health Trusts are happy we are doing that. The reason we are wearing the same masks as the ones the doctors and nurses are wearing is so we don’t cause any alarm to the patients, so it’s about reassurance.

‘But I can assure you we are not taking anything from the NHS’.

The show received over 6,000 tweets from concerned citizens who slammed the TV star for his ‘tasteless’ and ‘irresponsible’ decision to film in the ICU.

Mother-of-two Tamzin, 49, has been dating 29-year-old Tom Child – who doesn’t have any kids – for just over two years.

Speaking on The Times’ Postcards from Midlife podcast, the former EastEnders actress said: ‘After my experiences in life, I don’t think I think everything is always forever.

Honest: Tamzin Outhwaite, 49, has revealed she would give her boyfriend Tom Child, 29, her blessing if he wanted to leave her to start a family

‘He hates me saying this, but if he in a couple of years he really wanted kids I would give him my blessing.

‘I don’t feel like he has to be here forever. I’m just having a lovely time.’

She has two children from her former marriage to actor Tom Ellis, daughter Marnie, eight, and Florence, 12.

Tamzin added that dating in her 40s felt ‘liberating’ as she was no longer preoccupied with finding The One.

In the interview she revealed: ‘It’s liberating because I’ve got my kids. I don’t need to get married and I don’t need children. So actually I’m at the freest point really in my life.

‘Having somebody that makes my day to day bright and exciting and fun… he’s like my home, very familiar. But at the same time he feels like my adventure.’

It comes after reports that the actress is thought to be in advanced talks with BBC bosses to join this year’s Strictly along with the likes of Made In Chelsea’s Jamie Laing.

A source told The Sun: ‘What with Covid-19, everything is all still very much touch and go, and plans are changing on a weekly basis.

‘But nearly all the celebs are in the final stages of negotiations now, and Jamie is fully on board…

‘Tamzin is a perfect fit for the show. The BBC loves an EastEnder and she has a background in performing and dance, so she is really excited to see how she fares.’

The soap star previously revealed that her two daughters desperately wanted her to appear on the hit show.

But Tamzin, who first appeared in Albert Square in 1998, admitted: ‘I think I’m a bit old. I’m not sure my body could take it.’

It comes after Maisie was criticised by fellow soap star Kym Marsh for ‘setting a bad example’ after the EastEnders star was pictured smoking a ‘strong smelling’ hand-rolled cigarette while behind the wheel of her car.

Maisie was seen puffing the crudely rolled cigarette after pulling over on an empty road in Essex last week.

Kym, 44, who plays Michelle Connor on rival soap Coronation Street, has criticised the ‘really silly’ actress, insisting she should use her public platform to set a good example for younger fans.

Addressing the incident in her OK! column, she wrote: ‘This was a really silly thing to do. We all make mistakes and do things wrong, and hopefully this is something Maisie will learn from as she’s only 19.

‘When you’re in a soap, you have to remember that you have an influence on others – especially younger people – and you have to set an example.

‘You are an ambassador for your show, so you have to make sure you uphold its values. I can’t imagine she will get away with it lightly.’

According to The Sun, Maisie paused to smoke the cigarette before finishing and hastily driving off after a police car pulled into the area on Two Tree Island.

Driving while under the influence of cannabis can result in a minimum, one-year driving ban, an unlimited fine and up to six months in prison.

Maisie and her pal were said to have been parked for around 40 minutes on Sunday afternoon around 3:50pm.

According to the publication, the pair initially stopped before moving to a more secluded corner on the island.

They reportedly spent about seven minutes rolling the cigarette before smoking it and then left around 4:30pm after a police car arrived.

An onlooker said: ‘Locals know this area as a spot for people having a smoke. She had the window open and the smell was really strong. I couldn’t believe she was doing it while driving.’

Actress Tracy-Ann Oberman leads celebrities and politicians in Twitter ‘walkout’

Tracy-Ann Oberman is leading celebrities and politicians in calling out Twitter over its alleged relaxed response to anti-Semitic posts.

The former EastEnders star is one of thousands of users to throw their weight behind a 48-hour ‘walkout’ of the social media giant – ramping up pressure on bosses to remove posts inciting hatred against the Jewish community.

Writing on the platform as the boycott began at 9am, she said: ‘And we’re out. #NoSafeSpaceForJewHate. #48HoursSilence. @Twitter sort your site out.’

Lord Sugar, TV presenter Rachel Riley, shadow foreign secretary Lisa Nandy, Gary Lineker and Britain’s chief Rabbi Ephraim Mirvis have backed the campaign, alongside thousands of others.

Home Secretary Priti Patel slammed Twitter yesterday after it took 12 hours to remove anti-Semitic posts from rapper Wiley, and said it needed to act faster to delete ‘appalling hatred’.

The 41-year-old, real name Richard Cowie, is facing a police probe over posts which asserted that Jews are systematically exploiting Black artists in the music industry, and likening them to the Ku Klux Klan. He has also been dropped by his management.

There have been demands to strip the rapper of his MBE for ‘spewing anti-Semitic venom’ which has ‘no evidence whatsoever’, led by the group Campaign Against Anti-Semitism.

‘Jewish people don’t care what black went through they just use us to make money to feed their kids… for generations as well,’ he wrote on Twitter and Facebook-owned Instagram. ‘Hold some corn Jewish community you deserve it…’

Britain’s chief rabbi accused Twitter and Facebook of lacking ‘responsible leadership’ this morning.

Twitter has previously said ‘abuse and harassment’ have ‘no place’ on its service. Facebook, which owns Instagram, said there was ‘no place for hate speech’ on the platform. Both have suspended his account for seven days.

Actress Tracy-Ann Oberman called for action to stop Twitter allowing hate speech on its platform. She has been joined by thousands including celebrities and politicians

What is the Twitter boycott? Which celebrities have joined?

The Twitter boycott saw thousands of politicians, celebrities and others walk out of the platform for 48 hours from 9am GMT.

They are taking the action to highlight the platform’s inaction against anti-Semitic posts.

Rapper Wiley’s posts attacking the Jewish community remained up for more than 12 hours.

Below is a list of celebrities and politicians that have joined:

Tracy-Ann Oberman, actress

Lord Alan Sugar, entrepreneur

Ayesha Hazarika, Editor

Rachel Riley, TV presenter

Labour Against Anti-Semitism

Ephraim Mirvis, Britain’s chief rabbi

Lisa Nandy, MP and shadow foreign secretary

Stella Creasy, Labour MP

And thousands of others

Oberman, who has appeared on hit shows including Friday Night Dinner, Doctor Who, and the Tracey Ullman show, thanked friends for joining the boycott before she stepped away from the platform for 24 hours.

She also accused Twitter of manually trying to remove the hashtag #NoSafePlaceForJewHate.

‘Interesting @twitter has tried to MANUALLY stop the hashtag #NoSafeSpaceForJewHate by removing it from trending at #2 globally.

‘Perfect example @jack of your site being prejudiced. #Stopit. #NoSafeSpaceForJewHate. Thanks for altering it whoever just did at @twitter HQ keep the tag.’

Celebrities and politicians also joining the boycott include Editor Ayesha Hazarika, Labour MP Stella Creasy and Conservative MP Brendan Clarke-Smith.

The official Labour party account has also tweeted its support but said that as the official opposition it is its duty to hold the government to account and it ‘cannot afford to be absent on social media platforms’.

Labour Against Anti-Semitism is taking part in the walkout in ‘protest at Twitter’s repeated failure to tackle anti-Semitism on the platform’.

The Jewish Chronicle is also supporting the campaign, posting: ‘We are now saying #NoSafeSpaceForJewHate and walking out of Twitter until 9am UK time on Wednesday.’

Britain’s Chief Rabbi has written to Twitter boss Jack Dorsey and Facebook chief executive Mark Zuckerberg saying: ‘This cannot be allowed to stand. Your inaction amounts to complicity.’

Slamming Twitter, Priti Patel said yesterday: ‘The anti-Semitic posts from Wiley are abhorrent.’

‘They should not have been able to remain on Twitter and Instagram for so long and I have asked them for a full explanation.

‘Social media companies must act much faster to remove such appalling hatred from their platforms.’

The Campaign Against Anti-Semitism has called for Wiley to be prosecuted for inciting racial hatred, for his MBE to be revoked, and for Twitter and Instagram to delete his accounts.

‘Wiley has spent today engaged in an escalating rant which has culminated in calls for Jews to be shot and for black people to go to “war” against them,’ they said yesterday.

‘After a day spent likening Jews to the Ku Klux Klan and claiming that Jews had cheated him and were “snakes”, Wiley tweeted that Jews should “hold some corn”.

‘This is a slang expression meaning they should be shot. He added: “Jewish community you deserve it”.’

They added: ‘Wiley has many hundreds of thousands of followers on social media and we have seen today that a significant number of them truly believe the unhinged hatred that he is spreading.

‘We are treating this as a very serious matter which must be met with the firmest of responses.’

In one rant, Wiley said: Listen to me Jewish community Israel is not your country I’m sorry… The Star of David that’s our ting… Some people have gotten too comfortable on lands that don’t belong to them.’

Later, he wrote: ‘There are 2 sets of people who nobody has really wanted to challenge #Jewish & #KKK but being in business for 20 years you start to undestand [sic] why… Red Necks Are the KKK and Jewish people are the Law… Work that out.’

He added: ‘If you work for a company owned by 2 Jewish men and you challenge the Jewish community in anyway [sic] of course you will get fired.’

A number of Wiley’s posts have now been removed from Twitter, and he has been barred from the platform for seven days.

A spokesman for Facebook, which owns Instagram, said there was ‘no place for hate speech on Instagram’.

New regulation to better hold online companies to account is currently being prepared by the Government.

All about you: Dan continually doted on his wife as they made the most of the summer weather

Speaking of his infidelity on Friday, Dan said that ‘if it was the other way around’, and Jacqueline had been unfaithful, he would have left her.

He also revealed that he’s previously told his wife of three years that he wouldn’t ‘blame’ her for walking away from their marriage.

In a candid interview with The Sun Online, Dan said: ‘There have been times where if it were the other way round, I would have left.

‘I would have gone, so I’ve said to her “I wouldn’t blame you if you left me”. I’ve said that to Jac. If it was the other way around I’d be gone.’

During the interview, Dan also said the couple are focusing on the future, which includes renewing their wedding vows and trying for another baby.

Dan and Jacqueline tied the knot in 2017 and share two daughters Ella, five, and Mia, two. Dan also has a six-year-old son called Teddy from a previous relationship.

In the candid chat with the publication, Dan failed to clarify which cheating rumours are true, with the couple having been rocked by many over the years.

Most notably Dan was accused of cheating on Jacqueline with Love Island star Gabby Allen in 2018, something they’ve both insisted wasn’t true.

The couple faced cheating claims once again after it was alleged Dan engaged in a threesome with his Celebrity Big Brother co-stars Natalie Nunn and Chloe Ayling last year, which he denied.

Following Jacqueline’s victory in the I’m A Celebrity jungle, Dan apologised for doing things he wasn’t proud of in the relationship.

The reality star lamented his past behaviour, which he did not specify, in a candid post reflecting on the last decade and seemingly referenced his cheating scandal.

In his new interview with The Sun, Dan told how he made a ‘bunch of mistakes’ which were all ‘built into one’ and made worse, adding that he takes ‘full responsibility’ for being ‘c**p.’

Discussing the ups and downs of his and Jacqueline’s relationship, Dan said that they’ve had both ‘amazing’ times and the ‘worst possible, terrible moments’, stating that if they could get through that, they could get through anything.

The fitness fanatic also touched on their romance woes in May this year, which saw Jacqueline temporarily move out of the family home amid strains in their marriage.

Dan blamed the pressures of lockdown on the situation, adding that entertaining their children plus not being allowed their usual freedoms became too much and that they just needed ‘time apart’.

However, he insisted that they are now getting on better than ever and looking forward to having a ‘clean, fresh start together’.

Part of their fresh start includes renewing their wedding vows as Dan admits that looking back on his wedding day amid the sea of negativity has ‘tarnished it’.
