TALK OF THE TOWN: David Walliams bows out of the National Television Awards after critics blasted his performance as ‘boring’

David Walliams is not planning to return as the National Television Awards host after his panning by viewers and critics, I’m told.

A source says that David intends to bow out because he was devastated by the mauling he received for his ‘boring’ performance.

My spy adds: ‘David is a very sensitive soul and was all too aware of the negative feedback. He doesn’t want to put himself through that again.’

If only the’d called Zara…

If only the Queen had utilised the power of Prince Harry’s favourite cousin Zara Phillips during the Megxit negotiations.

Following news that savvy Zara played a crucial role in mediating between her brother Peter and his estranged wife Autumn, aides have noted that she would make the perfect go-between for the Royal Family and the increasingly distant Sussexes.

Says my Royal insider: ‘Zara prevented Autumn from moving back to Canada to be closer to her family. If she had been involved in that Sandringham summit about Harry and Meghan, perhaps the outcome would have been different too. The feeling is that the Queen would be wise to make use of Zara as Harry adores her.’

Ever wondered how much it costs to look as good as Elle Macpherson?

The price of a small car, I’d say.

Elle is known as The Body but by my maths the supermodel has had £10,000 worth of treatments on her face and neck in the past 12 months and has been sharing snaps of her visits to world’s best dermatologists on Instagram, including this one.

Her spokesman says: ‘Elle incorporates topical, non-invasive beauty treatments with practitioners who respect her goal for natural beauty.’

As natural as spending £200 a week!

Celebs spouting nonsense

Never mind the infamous tale about the Queen Mother once failing to identify an ironing board… Kate Moss’s little sister Lottie appears so detached from reality that she doesn’t even know what a pallet is.

The 22-year-old model posted a picture on Instagram of a shabby-chic bed made from pallets and asked: ‘Can someone tell me where I can find these sort of wooden crate things?’

I am delighted to assist and have sourced some from a chap in Wembley for £3 each – but you’ll have to collect them, Lottie.

Princess Beatrice will be confined to her posh tent in the gardens of Buckingham Palace when she marries Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi in May.

Bea and Edo are due to wed at the 150-seat Chapel Royal, before a reception in the Palace gardens.

But guests will not be allowed to enter the Palace itself – and the couple cannot even have official photos taken inside.

Will Prince Andrew be steering clear of his famous £13 million chalet in the super-rich playground of Verbier this year?

Some people in the upmarket Swiss resort are convinced that he has given up skiing after one British instructor based there told pals the Prince had generously passed on all of his designer ski gear, including top-notch gloves and goggles.

Andrew and ex-wife Sarah co-own the chalet, bought in 2015.

It boasts seven bedrooms, a heated indoor pool and lavish entertaining area.
