Controversial MAFS groom Dean Wells brands hit show ‘fake’ and claims stars are ‘manipulated’

‘I cannot believe people even watch it!’ Controversial MAFS groom Dean Wells brands hit show ‘fake’ and claims stars are ‘manipulated’ and ‘edited’ to heighten drama for ratings

Two years ago, he was one of Australia’s most-hated men due to a ‘cheating’ scandal on Married At First Sight.

But 2018 groom Dean Wells claims the entire show is ‘fake’ and he doesn’t understand why viewers haven’t caught on.

Speaking to News.com.au on Monday, he said: ‘MAFS is so fake, it’s so silly. I cannot believe people even watch that show… I thought it was common knowledge!’

‘It was not me that people saw; it was such a manipulated situation, it just wasn’t who I am,’ he claimed.

While he admitted he wasn’t ‘asked’ or ‘scripted’ to do anything controversial on the program, Dean claimed it was somewhat encouraged.

‘I wasn’t actually ASKED to do those things, but you’re stuck in a room with producers and camera crews, and they basically don’t leave you alone until you do something interesting,’ Dean alleged.

The Dancing With The Stars talent said the cast is just having fun with the scenarios and entertaining themselves and the crew on set.

Dean said while he wasn’t proud of his actions on the show, he claimed most of his storyline and behaviour was ‘manipulated’, ‘blatantly edited’ and ‘completely incorrect’.

He also laughed off claims that the current cast have defended the show against ‘fake’ allegations, claiming: ‘You mean the people still under contract to Channel Nine?’

Daily Mail Australia has contacted Channel Nine for comment.

Dean was cast as the ‘villain’ on Married At First Sight 2018 due to his chauvinistic views.

He caused further controversy when he cheated on his ‘wife’ Tracey Jewel with another bride Davina Rankin.

After filming, Dean claimed his business suffered financially as a direct result of his portrayal on Nine’s social experiment.
