Cathy Evans has revealed the harrowing cheating experiences that left her unable to trust her Married At First Sight groom Josh Pihlak.
Speaking to Nine Now the 26-year-old admitted that she was in a serious relationship when she learned her boyfriend – who had hinted he may soon propose – was cheating on her.
However, she claims she learned he had been seeing another woman for two months – when the girl contacted her on Instagram to reveal the affair.

Having thought she’d found ‘The One’ Cathy was left devastated, the logistics investigator says, and broke down.
She said: ‘I didn’t know whether to cry or scream. I was an absolute wreck, like I felt broken, like how could someone really destroy my trust like that? I’ll never forget it.
‘I think that really taught me what love can do to you, like I put my heart in his hands and he quite literally crumpled it like paper.’

The Sydney-based beauty says she questioned her worth and wondered if she was not attractive after the betrayal.
Cathy also said she was cheated on once before that experience, and the devastation left her feeling vulnerable in her relationship with groom Josh, 28.
The pair considered leaving the experiment after Cathy worried that Josh was flirting with Hayley Vernon.

She explained the pair fought over the issue: ‘Josh has said to me that “if you have trust issues with me, I will write ‘Leave’ because I cannot be with a girl who has trust issues” and it broke my heart that he said that,’ Cathy said. Pictured: Josh Pihlak
‘The fight happened because I was feeling jealous, I was feeling intimidated that he was speaking to Hayley,’ Cathy admitted on last night’s episode.
She continued: ‘I brought it up with him. I got defensive and angry and it made it just a thousand times worse.
‘Josh has said to me that “if you have trust issues with me, I will write ‘Leave’ because I cannot be with a girl who has trust issues” and it broke my heart that he said that.’
Ultimately the pair worked through their issues and after Sunday’s commitment ceremony decided to stay together.
