Scott Cam takes a break from The Block to smoke a cigarette


The Block host Scott Cam was pictured on Friday smoking a cigarette at the show’s $15million site in Melbourne. 

The 57-year-old pulled out the tools to help tradesmen and women on set, before taking a smoke break.

It came after the new contestants of the show were revealed, with teams seen arriving to the site on Thursday.

Scott was seen on the day in a pair of beige shorts and a blue work shirt, which he teamed with brown boots and his tool belt.  

He also wore a pair of glasses and could be seen holding a plank of wood as he walked. 

Scotty helped build a wooden frame on one of the houses, being a professional carpenter with over 32 years of experience.

Scotty first got his TV break when he was 37, when he appeared on Backyard Blitz back in 1999.

He first started hosting The Block back in 2010 and recently wrote on his blog how much he enjoys the role.  

‘Now I’m very lucky to be the host of The Block, a show I love to work on and hope to for more years to come.’

Teams were spotted arriving on site on Thursday.  

Five new teams introduced themselves to each other with wide smiles as they lugged their bags towards the weatherboard houses that they will be working on in coming weeks.

It is believed that filming began on the day, and will continue until May. It comes after neighbours were left in uproar over the development.

Locals in Brighton, Melbourne, were in uproar last year over the new Block site, fearing that production of the show would ‘ruin’ their suburb.

Earlier last month, five run-down homes being transported onto the 2,761-square metre building site on New Street.

Producers had originally bought the land for $15million in April but renovations seem to have only started recently.
