Rachel Brosnahan to star in the upcoming sci-fi comedy film Distant before she returns for fourth season of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel

She’s a two-time Golden Globe-winning actress who has wowed fans and critics in acclaimed period series The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.

Now Rachel Brosnahan is set to shed her ‘Midge’ Maisel skin to take on a new role in the upcoming sci-fi comedy Distant, alongside co-star Anthony Ramos (In The Heights).

Will Speck and Josh Gordon are once again working as a team to direct the film that was written by Spenser Cohen (Extinction).

The Speck and Gordon team are best known for directing such films as Blades Of Glory (2007), The Switch (2010) and Office Christmas Party (2016).  

In Distant, the story follows an asteroid miner who, after crash-landing on an alien planet, must contend with the challenges of his new surroundings.

Those challenges include making his way across the harsh terrain where he finds the only other survivor – a woman who’s trapped in her escape pod, according to Deadline.

Speck and Gordon will also serve as executive producers with Jonathan Rothbart and Matt Hirsch.  

Brian Kavanaugh-Jones (Midnight Special), Fred Berger (La La Land), and Anna Halberg (Extinction) will produce.

Production for Distant is slated to begin in March 2019. 

Along with her two Golden Globes in 2018 and 2019 for Mrs. Maisel, Brosnahan, 29, has also won a Primetime Emmy Award For Outstanding Lead Actress In A Comedy Series in 2018 for her portrayal as the aspiring stand-up comedian.

The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel was renewed for a fourth season in December 2019.  

Brosnahan’s Hollywood resume also includes a recurring role in the political thriller series House Of Cards (2013-2015), for which she received a Primetime Emmy Award nomination, as well as the lead in the drama series Manhattan (2014-2015) and films Beautiful Creatures (2013) and Louder Than Bombs (2015).

She is also set to star in the upcoming American-British film, Ironbark, alongside Benedict Cumberbatch. 

The film, which had its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival in January 2020, is expected to drop sometime in the fall.
