Liar star Joanne Froggatt rules out a third series as she confirms season two ‘will be the end of the story’

The highly-anticipated second season of Liar returns to ITV on Monday night; and star Joanne Froggatt has revealed it will not be back for a third.

The drama picks up immediately after the conclusion of season one, which saw rapist Andrew [played by Ioan Gruffudd] lying dead in the marshes, his throat slit.

But Joanne – who plays Laura, one of his victims – has confirmed that season two ‘will be the end of the story’.

The end is nigh: The highly-anticipated second season of Liar returns to ITV on Monday night; and star Joanne Froggatt has revealed it will not be back for a third

Speaking to The Sun’s TV Mag, she said: ‘I’m proud we’ve done another series. This will be the end of Andrew and Laura’s story.

‘I think it’s really honest with the viewers. There’s nothing worse than investing your time in something and then you get to season three and think: “Oh, it’s all gone too far. I don’t believe it!”

Joanne, 39, who is also known for her role in the Downton Abbey franchise, also told the magazine that Liar season one had ‘the biggest reaction I’ve ever had with anything I’ve done in terms of an overnight reaction’.

Season two explores the circumstances around Andrew’s death, and actor Ioan, 46, appears during the show in flashback scenes.
