Man, 53, killed his partner, 35, by stabbing her 22 times with a kitchen knife in the bedroom of their home in east London, court hears

A man killed his partner with a kitchen knife during a frenzied stab attack at their East London home, a court heard today.

Yi Xing Song, 53, is accused of murdering Li Qing Wang, 35, at their house in Magnolia Close, Leyton, on the morning of February 25.

He stabbed her in the bedroom 22 times, the Old Bailey was told after a post-mortem revealed the victim’s multiple injuries.   

Scotland Yard officers discovered Ms Wang’s body and the bloodied kitchen knife at the scene.

Paul Jarvis, prosecuting, said: ‘The defendant was found in the same house as his deceased partner.  

‘The stabbing had taken place in the bedroom she shared with the defendant. The bloodied kitchen knife was found in the bedroom alongside her body.’

Song, of Magnolia Close, is charged with murder and appeared over video-link at the Old Bailey aided by a Chinese interpreter.

Judge Anne Molyneux remanded Song in custody ahead of a plea and trial preparation hearing on May 18 and trial on August 3.  

Ms Wang’s death marked the 15th suspected murder in the capital this year. The tally has since risen to 17.
