A woman has been murdered in an Essex village and a man in his 40s arrested, police said today.
Officers were called to a house in Tyegreen, Saffron Walden, at 6.30pm on Sunday for a welfare check.
Paramedics were called and tried to save the victim but she died at the scene.
A man in his 40s has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in police custody, police said.
