‘We text a lot’: Katy Perry and Taylor Swift famously ended their six-year feud in Taylor’s music video for You Need to Calm Down in June 2019. And Katy revealed on Sunday that the pair are still working on their friendship eight months later

The pop stars, who were once close friends, fell out in 2014 when Katy reportedly ‘stole’ some of Taylor’s back-up dancers from her Red world tour.

The American Idol judge, 35, spoke to Stellar about how she has stayed in contact with Taylor, 30, since putting their rivalry behind them.

‘We don’t have a very close relationship because we are very busy, but we text a lot,’ she said.

'If you can forgive your enemy, that's amazing': Katy, 35, told Stellar that the driving force behind her reconciliation with Taylor, 30, was for them to be an 'example of unity'

In June, Taylor told Heart Breakfast that it was Katy who had instigated their reunion.

The Bad Blood hit-maker revealed: ‘We reconnected a while ago. It started when she sent an olive branch to, like an actual olive branch to my tour – on the first day of my Reputation Stadium tour [May 8, 2018] and I was like, that is not only really cool and really sincere, the note but like, very clever with sending an actual olive branch.’

Taylor continued by explaining that the gesture removed any tension and bad feeling from their argument and they decided to put their feud behind them.

In the video, Katy, who was dressed in a hamburger costume, hugged Taylor, who was dressed in a french fries costume, make their reconciliation public.

‘We were just kind of reconnecting privately and just wanted to make sure that everything was really good with us and that it was like a very real thing before we let anyone know that we’re not only good but we’re friends again,’ added Taylor.
