Ben Affleck reveals his one line in the 1992 film Buffy the Vampire Slayer was dubbed

Ben Affleck opened up about his ‘humiliating’ early role in the 1992 cult classic Buffy the Vampire Slayer, while promoting his new film The Way Back.

Affleck, 47, plays a former basketball player turned coach in The Way Back, but back in 1992, he played Basketball Player #10 in Buffy the Vampire Slayer, having just one line in the film.

During an interview on Sirius XM’s The Jess Cagle Show, Affleck revealed that, despite thinking he did a fine job, his line was dubbed over by director Fran Rubel Kuzui.

When Cagle’s co-host Julia Cunningham brought up Buffy the Vampire Slayer, it brought back some not-so-fond memories for the actor.

‘That movie… I was… apparently I’m so bad, I had one line. It was, “Take it,” I think. I’m holding a basketball, another basketball player turns into like a werewolf or whatever, and I get scared, naturally, as you might when you’re playing basketball and you see a werewolf,’ Affleck began.

‘I give him the ball and I think I say, “Take it, man,” and I thought it was fine, and the director seemed happy,’ he added.

But when he went to see the movie (clarifying that he, ‘did not get premiere tickets or anything,’) he realized, ‘That is not my voice.’

When Cunningham asked, ‘You were dubbed?’ Affleck said, ‘Apparently the director hated my performance so much, that she looped the entire performance, which was one line.’

He clarified that he was dubbed in English, because, ‘usually you do that if maybe they’re speaking a different language,’ before joking, ‘Thank you for bringing that memory up.’
