Mat Rogers claims his Survivor co-star Locky Gilbert has hidden motives for going on The Bachelor

Mat Rogers isn’t convinced his former Survivor: All-Stars co-star Locklan ‘Locky’ Gilbert is appearing on The Bachelor for the right reasons.

In an interview with Hit FM’s Breakfast with Lise, Sarah, Dan & Ben on Wednesday, the 44-year-old former rugby league footballer claimed Locky, 30, had money, not love, on his mind.

‘There’s probably a lot of reasons, and they’re all dollars,’ he said of Locky’s decision to appear on the Channel 10 reality show.

It was announced on Wednesday that Locky would be appearing as the Bachelor on this year’s season of the hit dating series.

‘I really want to find love. I’m pretty content with my life at the moment. I go on crazy adventures, but I’m doing it all by myself,’ Locky told 10 daily on Wednesday. 

But speaking on radio, Mat claimed he didn’t think of Locky as the type of guy who would sign up for The Bachelor.  

‘He certainly likes to be in control, and there’s going to be no other guy he has to battle it out with on The Bachelor,’ he mused. 

‘But there’s going to be plenty of girls battling for his attention, so it’s going to be interesting to see how he handles it.’ 

Mat didn’t have many nice things to say about the incoming Bachelor, saying that although he’s a bit of a control freak, he’s ‘good outdoors’.

In a post on Instagram on Tuesday, Mat paid tribute to Locky following his elimination from Survivor.

He admitted that although they were often pitted against each other in the cutthroat reality series, he was empathetic to how he’d be feeling about being booted off.

‘We never connected on a real level in the game because from day one we were against each other. It may have been different had that not happened,’ he wrote.
