Megan Gale reveals she was ‘tarnished’ after her break-up with Andy Lee after moving on

‘It was very demeaning’: Megan Gale says her image was ‘tarnished’ after she broke up with Andy Lee before moving on quickly with current partner Shaun Hampson

They were one of Australia’s favourite celebrity couples before they called time on their relationship at the end of 2010.

But model Megan Gale has said her split with comedian Andy Lee ‘tarnished’ her image when the public turned on her for moving on with her current partner, Shaun Hampson shortly after the breakup.

‘It was very demeaning. I get how it happens, I don’t like it, I don’t accept it. It was really challenging to navigate for a while,’ she said in an interview with Mamamia.

‘It wasn’t a good time. It almost felt like I had done something wrong and I had been tarnished like I’d done something wrong. When I was with [Andy], everyone loved us together.’

‘We were going through what we were going through very privately for quite a while, so when people found out we were broken up, I think it came as a bit of a shock and I did appear to have moved on relatively quickly,’ she explained.

Megan started dating former AFL player Shaun, who was 12 years her junior, in January 2011.

Back in November, the brunette beauty also spoke to The Australian Women’s Weekly about the devastating effect her new relationship had on her career.

‘If the public sadly believe what they read, they aren’t going to like me. And if they don’t like me, no one’s going to hire me,’ she said.

‘That’s really horrible, you feel powerless. I saw [my career] suffer.’

The former Project Runway host also suffered a financial blow in 2007 when she quit her ambassadorship with David Jones to pursue a career in Hollywood.

She had signed on to play Wonder Woman in a three-movie franchise, but the project was abandoned due to the WGA writers strike.

Despite these setbacks, she remains one of Australia’s most celebrated models to this day and has an estimated net worth of $10million.

She also runs a successful baby products brand and an online wellness blog.

Her relationship with Shaun is going strong, with the couple now engaged and sharing two gorgeous children, son River, five and daughter, Rosie, two.

They are expected to tie the knot later this year.
