Studio 10 is ‘facing the AXE’ after ratings plunge to a worrying new low – as insiders claim Denise Drysdale is the morning show’s ‘only hope’

Studio 10 is reportedly on the chopping block.

Network Ten’s long-running breakfast show could soon be cancelled due to low ratings, an insider told Woman’s Day this week.

Studio 10 recorded its lowest ever ratings last month, and program’s ‘only hope’ is said to be Denise Drysdale, who draws in thousands more viewers on days when she is on the panel.

Fears: Studio 10 is ‘facing the AXE’ after six years as ratings dip to worrying new low, long running breakfast show could soon be cancelled, a TV insider told Woman’s Day this week

A source claimed: ‘Studio 10 has had an axe looming over it, and Ten were in complete panic mode a few weeks back [in February] when the show’s ratings dipped to a worrying low of 33,000 metro viewers.’

‘But the next day, execs heavily promoted Denise on the show and there was a huge spike of 10,000 viewers,’ they added.

Studio 10 bosses are said to be relying on Denise to keep ratings up, but they’re worried because she already has one foot out the door.

In August 2018, Denise confirmed she wanted to leave the panel, but was persuaded to take a break instead after crisis talks with executives.

The 54-year showbusiness veteran told The Kyle and Jackie O Show at the time that she was ‘sick’ of the travel required for her job.

‘I’m due for a break, I’m not hanging up the boots but I’ve got the open invitation to come back next year, which I think is absolutely fantastic and how lucky am I,’ she said.

Network Ten has officially denied reports Studio 10 is facing the axe.

A spokesperson said on Monday: ‘Sarah, Joe, Angela, Kerri-Anne, Denise, Natarsha and Narelda make up the much-loved and respected Studio 10 family, and that’s how it’ll stay.’

The Studio 10 lineup consists of: Sarah Harris, Joe Hildebrand, Kerri-Anne Kennerley, Natarsha Belling and newcomer Narelda Jacobs.

Karl Stefanovic’s ex-wife, Cassandra Thorburn, appears as an occasional panelist.
