MAFS: Wild claims Elizabeth Sobinoff ‘was paid $100,000’ to return

Married At First Sight is rocked by wild claims Elizabeth Sobinoff ‘was paid $100,000’ to return to the experiment for just ‘four weeks’ of filming

Married At First Sight participants aren’t paid as a rule, but rumours are swirling that producers made an exception for returning bride Elizabeth Sobinoff.

According to New Idea on Monday, the 28-year-old store manager was offered $100,000 to appear on the show for a second time.

The publication claimed that the enormous paycheck was in return for Elizabeth filming four weeks’ worth of footage.

In contrast to Elizabeth’s rumoured payday, the other cast members were reportedly given just $150 per day as an ‘allowance’.

New Idea’s claims should be taken with a grain of salt, however.

The magazine alleged that Elizabeth had a ‘four-week stint’ on the show, but she actually spent closer to two months filming last year.

Her wedding to Seb Guilhaus took place on October 17, and their final vows were filmed on December 3. The couple then returned for the cast reunion on January 14.

Daily Mail Australia has contacted Elizabeth and Channel Nine for comment.

While it’s not clear whether Elizabeth actually received a six-figure payment, former MAFS stars have claimed they were only paid $150 per day.

Nasser Sultan from season five told Woman’s Day in January that he received the measly allowance despite filming for up to 12 hours daily.

Telv Williams has also criticised the show’s allowance, telling News.com.au in April 2019 that the show doesn’t cover anyone’s personal expenses.

‘You get paid $150 dollars a day, tax free. It’s s**t, it’s rubbish. Everything is off your own f**king back,’ he said.

But it’s an improvement from the early seasons of the show, when participants were reportedly paid just $150 per week.

Elizabeth’s return to the experiment comes after she was left heartbroken when her first ‘husband’, Sam Ball, had an affair with Ines Basic last season.
