Married At First Sight: Why Michael Goonan’s huge $1.1million mansion is so empty

Revealed: Why Married At First Sight star Michael Goonan’s $1.1million mansion was EMPTY when he gave his ‘wife’ Stacey Hampton a guided tour

Married At First Sight’s Michael Goonan gave ‘wife’ Stacey Hampton a tour of his $1.1million mansion in Adelaide’s north west during Monday’s homestay episode.

However, the four bedroom property lacked many personal belongings and was mostly bare inside, with Stacey even commenting about his empty refrigerator.

Although some fans have speculated the house was rented solely for filming, Daily Mail Australia can reveal there’s a very simple explanation why it’s so empty.

Whereas Michael owns the beachfront property, a source has revealed that he ‘only spends several months a year living there’ – and is usually away on business.

Instead, the company director rents it out for $1,000-per-night on Airbnb, with it lacking many personal touches as it’s often full of passing tourists and families.

On Airbnb, Michael has named the property ‘The Jaw Dropper’ and has an impressive rating of 4.73 from previous guests, all gushing about the accommodation.

Despite the house lacking a personal touch, Stacey was left uncomfortable after discovering some questionable items scattered around the various rooms.

In a kitchen cupboard, she found party cups and shot glasses, following her multiple fights with Michael about his drinking habits during their time together.

He later showed her the various bikinis that former lovers had left behind.

The reality ‘villain’ snapped up the $1.1million beach-side mansion in Adelaide’s north west in 2014, and the property is just as flash as Michael is on the show.

Michael’s huge home boasts four bedrooms, three bathrooms and two garages, and is now believed to be worth around $1.5million, six years after buying it.

During his introduction on the show in February, he revealed how he’d worked hard for years to be able to purchase the property in his early 20s.

‘I can’t remember since I was 12 a week that I wasn’t working. I’m the director of a cold food storage and food manufacturing business,’ he began.

‘When I was 24 I was actually able to afford a property over $1million. It has all paid off. I’d be lying if I said I didn’t have a taste for a couple of watches and shiny toys.’
