Phil Collins lookalike in Thames Valley Police sexual assault appeal sparks social media jibes

Police hunt Phil Collins’ double who groped woman on a bus in Reading

A bus passenger wanted in connection with a series of assaults on board a bus in Berkshire has a striking similarity to Phil Collins, social media users have said.

Thames Valley Police want to speak to the bald, bespectacled man after one woman was ‘touched inappropriately’ and three other people were assaulted while travelling between Bracknell and Reading.

Social media users couldn’t help but notice a likeness to legendary singer and drummer Phil Collins.

Police say the woman who was sexually assaulted was ‘touched by the offender inappropriately over her clothing’. A man and woman in their 20s were then assaulted, along with a man in his 50s.

Having seen the appeal online, Abbie Linnell posted: ‘Phil Collins won’t be pleased – the guy is a dead ringer, it’s amazing. But isn’t everyone supposed to have an identical looking person somewhere in the world?’

There were no injuries in the incident, which happened on Sunday, January 19 at around 3pm.

Police released the image last week, one day after Miami resident Collins, along with band mates Mike Rutherford and Tony Banks, announced Genesis’ first tour in 13 years.

The delay in releasing the image of the attacks was down to police sifting through footage and asking witnesses to pick out the man.

PC Daniel Conboy, of Reading police station, said: ‘I am releasing the CCTV image of this man as I believe he may have vital information about these incidents.

‘If anyone recognises him, or has information about the incidents, please contact Thames Valley Police.

‘Alternatively, if this person is you, we also ask that you make contact with us.
