The new streaming service Quibi is set to premiere its new nature series about female animals, dubbed Fierce Queens, in April.
And Oscar-winning actress Reese Witherspoon lends her star power as narrator and host for the project that comes from the BBC Studios National History Unit.
To mark International Women’s Day on Sunday, March 8, the mobile-only streamer dropped the first trailer that showcases some of wildlife’s most powerful females in the natural world.

‘Ask yourself one question: Why do they call it the animal kingdom, when it’s clearly run by queens?’ Witherspoon says off the top in the teaser, which shows incredible images of female cheetahs, baboons, hyenas and insects, to name a few.
‘Meet the females who give new meaning to: eat, prey, love ,’ she adds over shots of female animals in action, taking down their next meal or procreating.
Fierce Queens will ‘explore phenomenal female animals: the rebel matriarchs, powerful leaders and dangerous lovers of the natural world,’ according to Quibi.
‘From hyenas to fireflies, meerkats to humpback whales, the documentary series will bring you the most dramatic natural history stories from a fresh female perspective.’

Fierce Queens will debut on April 6, along with dozens of other programs, including talk shows, advice shows, short news and sports programs.
Some of the other high-profile celebs using their star power on the platform include, Liam Hemsworth, Christopher Waltz, Chrissy Teigen, Nicole Richie, Chance The Rapper, Idris Elba, Will Forte, Kaitlin Olson, Keke Palmer, Joel Kim Booster, and Megan Rapinoe.
In a move to separate itself from the growing number of streaming services, all of Quibi’s episodes will be 10 minutes or less.

In January, the tandem shared that they expect to have 175 new shows in its first year of business, according to The Wrap.
In 2018, the company raised $1 billion in funding from 11 investors and major Hollywood studios.
