Sarah Michelle Gellar wishes her ‘handsome man’ Freddie Prinze Jr. a happy 44th birthday

Golden Globe nominee Sarah Michelle Gellar publicly wished her husband of 17 years, Freddie Prinze Jr., a happy 44th birthday on Sunday by sharing a retro snap.

‘A very long time ago, on this very day, this handsome man was born,’ the Long Island-born 42-year-old – who boasts 4.8M social media followers – gushed.

‘I am extremely happy about that (although I doubt he’s happy that I still have this high school picture) happy birthday @realfreddieprinze!’  

Sarah and her silver fox originally met on the Sonoma County set of Jim Gillespie’s teen slasher I Know What You Did Last Summer back in 1997.

The Sony Pictures horror flick amassed $125.2M at the box office and spawned two sequels despite a dismal 42% Rotten Tomatoes rating.

‘We appreciate the perspective from the outside, but when you’re in a relationship, you just try to be in the moment. We don’t analyze it,’ Freddie told People last month.

‘It’s our marriage and we just try to stay in the moment.’  

The acting couple maintain strict rules about cell phone use for themselves as well as their son Rocky James, 7; and daughter Charlotte Grace, 10.

‘Our kids don’t have phones – that’s a grown-up rule,’ Gellar noted.

‘We have a no phone rule at the dinner table. It’s about making sure that eye contact is made and that conversations are had.’ 

The Buffy the Vampire Slayer alum will next star as a warrior goddess in Netflix’s upcoming Masters of the Universe: Revelation alongside Mark Hamill, Alicia Silverstone, and Justin Long.

In the six-episode animated reboot, Sarah voices Eternos Captain of the Royal Guard Teela, who trains and protects Prince Adam of Eternia without realizing his secret He-Man alter ego.

Prinze Jr. last voiced the Jedi Knight Kanan Jarrus in one scene of Star Wars: Episode IX – The Rise of Skywalker, which amassed $1.074B at the box office despite 52% on Rotten Tomatoes.
