Married At First Sight suffered an embarrassing editing fail when Steve Burley’s goatee disappeared and reappeared Sunday’s the commitment ceremony.

Now, Daily Mail Australia can reveal the reason behind Steve’s changing facial hair. 

In an effort to create drama, Producers cleverly inserted shots of Steve that were actually taken from a previous episode.

The cut-away shots of a clean-shaven Steve originate from a previous episode which aired back on February 23rd. 

In the previously-filmed scenes, the British-born celebrity happened to be wearing the same outfit as he did during this Sunday night’s commitment ceremony (a blue blazer with a white T-shirt and denim jeans). 

On Sunday, audiences saw Melbourne-based barber shop owner Steve, 51, with a scruffy-looking goatee on his chin as he explained why he wanted to leave his marriage to Mishel Karen.

When it was time for Brisbane-based teacher Mishel, 48, to reveal that she decided to stay, her ‘husband’ suddenly appeared to be cleanly shaven.

Fans noticed that several close-up shots of Steve looking downcast depicted him with a clean-shaven face.  

A wide shot then showed the couple sitting on the couch – this time with Steve’s facial hair back in place.

Last week, there were continuity errors during Josh Pihlak and Cathy Evans’ date when plates and glasses on the table kept changing in between shots. 

Even the level of liquid in Cathy’s drink shifted between each cut, and the cocktail also changed colour at one point from pink to yellow.
