But on Tuesday, Jessie Murphy revealed she had a rare eye growth and two melanomas removed in recent years.

‘When they were taking it off my eye, they thought there was a tumour at the back.’

A pterygium is a tissue growth that starts on the cornea of the eye near the nose, which can impair vision if it grows big enough.

The exact cause of the growth is unknown but it is recommended to wear sunglasses and a hat under strong sunlight to prevent it.

Jessie was raised in the Victorian country town of Albury near the NSW border and believes her outdoor lifestyle may have caused the growth.

The 28-year-old said she has also had two melanomas removed.

‘I’ve had four or five moles removed and two taken out that were early-stage melanoma. One was on the side and one under my boob,’ she said.

Jessie said she now regularly gets her skin checked to avoid any future melanomas.

Jessie and Marc met in 2011 but didn’t begin dating until the next year. The couple engaged in September 2015 and tied the knot in 2016.
