Boris Johnson’s fiancée Carrie Symonds today furiously hit back at claims she will give up her rescue dog when her baby is born.

The 31-year-old slammed suggestions Dilyn the Jack Russell-cross would be ‘rehomed’ when her first baby is born this summer, as ‘a load of total c**p!’

Writing on Twitter today, she added: ‘There has never been a happier, healthier and more loved dog than our Dilyn. 100% bs.’

Ms Symond’s tweet comes after The Times suggested the rescue dog could be the victim of a ‘reshuffle’ when the Prime Minister and his fiancée’s baby arrives.

A spokesperson for Number 10 said today:’Dilyn is and always will be a much-loved member of the family.

‘To suggest otherwise is not only mean and hurtful, but totally untrue.’

Dilyn, who now trots along the corridors of power at Whitehall, was born on a Carmarthenshire puppy farm with a misaligned jaw.

He was saved by the small animal charity Friends of Animals Wales, which specialises in rescuing sick and discarded farmed dogs, alongside his brother, Jed — from almost certain death.

He then travelled from Wales to Downing Street at the end of last year to start his new life at Number 10.

The PM revealed that Dilyn has helped him reduce his stress levels by taking regular walks in his pants with his new dog.

The Prime Minister told how his morning routine involves taking Dilyn, the Jack Russell cross bought by Mr Johnson and his girlfriend Carrie, down to the Downing Street garden.

‘I get up at six o’clock in the morning and stagger around, walk around the garden with the dog. It’s a keep-fit regime in my boxers,’ he said.

Boris, 55, and Carrie, 31, announced at the end of February that Carrie was pregnant.

Writing on Instagram, Carrie said: ‘Many of you already know but for my friends that still don’t, we got engaged at the end of last year… and we’ve got a baby hatching early summer.’

The date of their wedding has not been announced, but it will mark the first time in at least 250 years a sitting prime minister has married while in office.

The Prime Minister, 55, has at least five children, although he has never confirmed the exact number after imposing a blanket ban on talking about his family. This will be the first child born to his 31-year-old partner.

Mr Johnson, who has been married twice previously, last month finalised his divorce with estranged wife Marina Wheeler, with whom he has two daughters and two sons.

While he was still married to barrister Ms Wheeler, he began dating Tory PR adviser Ms Symonds, and the couple are believed to have been in a relationship for over a year.
