Cats are well known for their ability to be a nuisance around the house.

He covered the counter with foil and then took up a position in the corner of the room to film the hilarious results.

He then filmed the hilarious results

A man in Adelaide, Australia, covered his kitchen counter in tin foil to stop his cat from jumping up and stealing food. He then filmed the hilarious results

In his video his cat is seen on the floor as it prepares to jump.

But when it springs from the floor it gets a shock when its paws touch the foil and it instantly jumps backwards, as if it has received an electric shock.

The filmer is then heard laughing as the cat runs out of the room.

He said at the start of the video: ‘So me cat won’t stop jumping up on the kitchen bench, so I Googled ways to stop that.

The filmer showed how he put the foil on the worktops and then stood back to film from the corner of the room

‘Really all you need is some tin foil.

He said he had used the foil because Kat always jumps on the kitchen counter in search of food.

‘I tried one option and because I knew my cat would try jumping up again, I decided to film,’ he added.

‘And now knowing it would go viral, I posted the video on social media.’
