Less than two months after The Bachelorette contestant Tyler Gwozdz tragically passed away, his cause of death has been revealed.

The 29-year-old, who appeared on Hannah Brown’s season of The Bachelorette in 2019, passed from, ‘opioid toxicity (heroin)’ with his death ruled, ‘an accident.’

The ruling was given by the Palm Beach County Medical Examiner, with documents obtained by E! News stating that Gwozdz’s girlfriend told them he used heroin prior to his death on January 22.

‘Given this information and a lack of admission specimens for testing his death is best classified as Opioid Toxicity (Heroin),’ the documents stated.

‘It is possible that the offending agent could have been a different substance than heroin,’ the excerpt continued.

‘However, given the circumstances it is best classified as such. If additional information becomes available in the future, it will be evaluated, and if needed the cause of death amended,’ the excerpt concluded.

Gwozdz was rushed to the hospital around 10:45 AM on January 13 when Boca Raton Police Services Department responded to a call for a suspected overdose.

The former reality star remained in the hospital for over a week, with TMZ reporting that he was in, ‘critical but stable condition.’ 

It was reported that a female caller told the dispatch that he might have overdosed on heroin, and she was trying to get into a bathroom that Gwozdz had locked himself into.

The reality star was an early favorite during Hannah Brown’s season of The Bachelorette, having scored the first one-on-one date with her.

However, Gwozdz was abruptly sent home after just three weeks on the show, though his exit was never fully explained.

Brown would only say that Gwozdz, ‘had to leave’ without explaining the exit further.

Following his death, Gwozdz’s family set up a charitable foundation in his name, including a GoFundMe page for fans to donate to.

‘The Gwozdz family is overwhelmed by the support and love shown by everyone in our lives. We are also at a loss for words over the sudden passing of Tyler,’ a statement on the GoFundMe page read.

‘The devastation and heartbreak caused by addiction is unfortunately becoming a reality for too many families across the United States as the epidemic of this disease continues to spread,’ the statement added.
