A Moscow motorist had a lucky escape after a flying chunk of metal smashed into his windscreen.

Incredible dash cam footage shows the object, thought to be a leaf spring from a lorry, kick up off the opposite carriageway and land on the Kia’s windscreen.   

The shocked driver, who had a passenger with him at the time, said the loose piece of metal embedded itself in his windscreen, inches from his hand. 

After hurtling through the air, the shocking footage shows the chunk of metal embed itself through the window, resting on the dashboard within. 

It’s thought the the chunk of metal was the leaf spring of a lorry which had come loose and fallen into the road.

A passing car may have hit the spring, flinging it into the air and onto the opposite carriageway.

Shocked viewers have commented on how fortunate the driver and his passenger are to be alive.

One said the driver was ‘lucky in every sense,’ while another said the driver should thank his guardian angel. 

Reports in Russia do not say whether the lorry driver has been identified.
