Davina McCall, 52, reveals she’s launching an underwear line

Davina McCall has revealed she’s launching an underwear line after wearing the ‘sexiest lingerie ever’ following her divorce from husband of 17 years, Matthew Robertson.

The presenter, 52, has insisted sporting racy bra and panty sets was ‘an act of self-love’ while she was single after her ‘hard’ divorce in 2017.

TV and radio host Davina – who is now in a relationship with hairdresser and longtime friend Michael Douglas – enthused she and her new boyfriend, 45, are ‘happy’, but ‘don’t want to shove their romance down anybody’s throat’ out of respect for their family.

On her new venture, the fitness enthusiast told The Mirror: ‘I’m going to start a YouTube channel, and I’m launching an underwear range. That was all born out of me being single and still wearing the sexiest underwear ever. Not because I was dating but because it was an act of self-love every morning.’

The former Big Brother presenter admitted it took her a while to accept herself during her 20s, which she said was ‘part and parcel’ of why she suffered from a drug addiction.

Davina – who has been clear for over 25 years and leads a relatively healthy life – insisted that while she’s ‘not anti’ plastic surgery, she doesn’t believe she ‘needs’ to go under the knife any time soon.

Elsewhere in the interview, the media personality said she’s keeping her dating life with Michael low-key, as she believes speaking about their romance is ‘nauseating for our kids to listen to any of that stuff, and a bit weird for our ex-partners’.

The TV star – who shares Holly, 18, Tilly, 16, and 12-year-old son Chester with her ex – revealed the new couple are also launching their new podcast Making The Cut, which aims to provide listeners with a reviews into their favourite products.

Earlier this month, Davina revealed she was rushed to hospital after she was ‘filled with self-hatred’ at the lowest ebb of her drug addiction.

The brunette confessed that after a cocktail of drugs in her 20s she woke up in a hospital bed, and it was the brush with death that finally pushed her to get clean.

Davina has been open about struggling with drug addiction in the early days of her presenting career, but has now been clean for more than 25 years.

Speaking at an International Women’s Day event as reported by The Sun, she revealed that after smoking cannabis at a young age she became addicted to heroin.

The star recalled the complicated relationship she had with her alcoholic mother Florence, adding that she started partying as a teenager as she didn’t have any matriarchal figure to turn to.

Davina said that she spiralled into a drug addiction, which at its worst led to her hospitalisation.

She said: ‘It was very frightening as it was a very gradual overdose. I’d had a cocktail of drugs, because I didn’t want to feel normal.

‘I was constantly trying to escape myself — I was like a piece of fruit rotting from the inside.

‘So then I thought, ‘Well, I’ll just take a valium’, and the next thing I knew I woke up in hospital. At my lowest point, when I was filled with self hatred, it was literally a case of ”get clean, or die”.’

Davina added that it was her best friend, dad and stepmother that helped her see sense, and she enrolled in Narcotics Anonymous.
