Last weekend was the worst box office tally in 22 years, due to several theaters nationwide closing due to coronavirus concerns.

‘With audiences largely unable to view films in theatrical release under current circumstances, we have decided to provide the alternative of early digital ownership of our currently released titles to people looking for great entertainment options,’ said Toby Emmerich, Chairman, Warner Bros. Pictures Group in a statement.

‘So, while we remain big fans of the theatrical experience and hope audiences are able to return to cinemas in the near future, we understand that these are challenging times and offering this option simply makes sense.

The Way Back centers on Jack Cunningham (Ben Affleck), who was a high school basketball phenom who suddenly walked away from the game.

Years later he returns to his alma mater to accept a coaching position that may be his last shot at redemption.

Affleck stars alongside Janina Gavankar, Al Madrigal and Michaela Watkins, with Gavin O’Connor (The Accountant) directing from a script by Brad Ingelsby.
