‘Pay your data bill’: Sunrise host David Koch pokes fun of weatherman James Tobin’s poor connection as live cross encounters technical difficulties from his self-isolation in Sydney
Sunrise weatherman James Tobin has been performing live crosses for Channel Seven from within self-isolation for the past week.
But on Monday, host David ‘Kochie’ Koch jokingly cut his segment short when technical difficulties plagued the broadcast.
‘Pay your data bill,’ Kochie joked to James as his co-host and news reporter Natalie Barr laughed along.

James, 39, was seemingly aware of the issues before being cut off, as he told the hosts: ‘We’re working with what we’ve got at the moment.’
‘One last thing,’ James began, before the feed from his kitchen completely froze.
Returning to Kochie and Natalie at the desk, Kochie joked: ‘No, no we cant. Bad luck, you don’t get one last thing. Pay your data bill.’

Natalie agreed the segment needed to be cut short: ‘It’s breaking up too much.’
They later crossed back to James, where he had found a better connection in another room from within his Sydney apartment.
James returned from America on Sunday, March 15, and was required to self-isolate for 14 days as per government directions.

The Sunrise team also confirmed on Monday that their hair and makeup teams were wearing protective gear to reduce potential risk of COVID-19 exposure.
Kochie said the artists were all wearing special P95 masks when tending to talent for the channel’s numerous programs.
On Friday, Seven also announced on Sunrise’s Instagram account: ‘The show is going to look a little different for a while as we follow the government’s advice by practising social distancing and limiting in-studio guests.’

Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison announced stricter social distancing rules and on Sunday, including the closure of cafe and restaurant dining areas, pubs, clubs, cinemas and gyms.
It follows a push for non-essential services to be shut down by the government to minimise the spread of coronavirus.
As of Sunday night, there were 1,354 reported cases of coronavirus in Australia, including seven deaths.
