‘We can make anywhere home’: Dua Lipa reveals self-isolating with boyfriend Anwar Hadid in a ‘random London AirBnB’ has been ‘a wake up call’ for her hectic lifestyle

Dua Lipa has spoken out on her last minute self-isolation base during the coronavirus crisis.

The singer is holed up in ‘a random Airbnb’ in London with boyfriend Anwar Hadid, after returning home from her Australia tour to find her flat flooded.

Speaking to Good Morning Britain on Wednesday, the star, who has just released her second album, said things are going well as she enjoys some rare down time with her model beau.

‘I’m still in the airbnb, it’s all good,’ she told the ITV show. ‘My boyfriend and I are used to it, we travel a lot so we can make anywhere home. I got back from Australia and when the self-isolation thing started to happen, I quickly had to find a spot.’

Elaborating on being with Anwar 24/7, she insisted that ‘we’re good at doing our own things and then coming together when we want to watch a movie or do a painting and we go on our one hour daily walk’.

The singer has been keeping in touch with friends and family around the world via Facetime, Zoom chats and phonecalls, pointing out that ‘now is the time to make all those calls that you’ve been putting on the backburner. There are family members all over the world that I haven’t had a chance to call and talk to.’

The busy star admitted that the crisis has made her reevaluate her lifestyle, explaining: ‘We’re all learning to take a little step back. Not everything needs to be so imminent.’

‘My job is always like, where am I going, what am I doing next? It doesn’t need to be so urgent. A lot of those meetings can just be an email.’

‘Maybe this is a wake up call to really start protecting our planet. I think we’ll have more empathy for people around the world who have had to deal with oppression. This doesn’t discriminate and we’re all going through it together.’

Lorraine asked about Dua’s family having to leave Kosovo during the Balkan War and how they’re a very ’stoic bunch’ and have been through a lot. Dua agreed, pointing out: ‘I think after going through two wars, they’re like, “This is a small price to pay… we can come together collectively to try and heal the world. All we have to do is try to sit on our sofas and watch TV, so I think we can do it.”‘

Amid the coronavirus crisis, Dua decided to pull the release date for her second album Future Nostalgia forward from April 3 to March 27.

She explained to GMB: ‘This is probably a weird time to put music on so I hope it takes your mind off whatever is going on in the background and gives you a moment of joy.’

Dua also spoke about the new album this week on fellow singer Jessie Ware’s hit podcast Table Manners, admitting she felt pressure during the writing and recording process for her second album.

‘I really just kind of made this album because everyone was like “Ohh second album, like that’s a really scary one” and there was so much pressure with it that I just wanted to basically make something that took me away from that, that took away that anxiety and something that I made just to have fun with.’

‘I was also toying with the idea of whether to put it out at this time at all. And I guess some things just happen for a reason and I think people maybe need it now more than ever.’
