Elizabeth Sobinoff reflects on her iconic Married At First Sight speech about body positivity

‘I’ll never be ashamed of where I’ve come from’: Returning bride Elizabeth Sobinoff reflects on her iconic Married At First Sight speech about body positivity after losing 10KG this year

Married At First Sight star Elizabeth Sobinoff called out men – like her former ‘husband’ Sam Ball – who body shamed women in 2019.

And now the 29-year-old reality star has reflected on her passionate speech, after finding love with Sebastian Guilhaus on the same show one year later.

The returning bride, who has lost 10kg in the last year, revealed on Thursday she wasn’t ‘ashamed’ of her past and was proud to ‘continue to grow’ as a person.

‘I will never, ever feel ashamed of where I have come from,’ she wrote on Instagram, sharing the original MAFS footage of her speech.

She added: ‘I will constantly uplift, I will constantly stay true to myself. I will navigate my life with a purity to myself.

‘I will continue to experiment with my appearance, I will continue to stand up for myself, I will continue to bring myself and others up…’

‘I may be intimidating because I’m okay with myself.’

Elizabeth admitted she still had moments when she doubted herself, but continued to look for the positive.

‘I will have moments where I’m not okay, I may crumble but I promise myself this, I will be true to my truth,’ she said.

‘My kittens, I’m a force and I’m proud of that. No matter where my life takes me I’ll be myself and continue to grow. Let me state this as well, you are all warriors and you are all worth it.

‘Life gives you lemons, you better grind at that sour and make something so beautifully sweet,’ she finished the post, signing off as ‘Queen Elizabeth’.

In the footage from last year’s season, Elizabeth called Sam Ball ‘disgusting’ for judging her on her size, after he made shocking comments at their wedding ceremony.

‘For him to judge me like that, just on my looks. That I’m a larger girl, that I’m a heavy girl,’ a blonde Elizabeth said at the time.

‘What he’s doing is setting the tone for all the girls out there – that you’re not worthy enough if you’re not a size size or below, [you] don’t deserve the time of day.’

‘I am just appalled that he would be so free to comment on a woman’s weight. That to me is absolutely despicable and disgusting, disgusting, okay?’
